TRAFFIC SAFETY COORDINATING COMMITTEE
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26, 1983
ENGINEERING CONFERENCE ROOM
MINUTES
Members Present: Chairman Ron Beckman, Vince Jimno, Jim Thompson, Dave Hauser representing City Engineer
Members Absent: Bill Baldwin, Gerald Long
Others Present: Steve Tisale
1. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the September 6, 1983 meeting were approved as
presented.
2. Magnolia School - Request for Midblock Crosswalk
The Committee recommended staff to draw a layout of the school,
parking lot and street to possibly come up with a better circulation pattern. The Committee deferred action on the
request for a midblock crosswalk at this time.
3. Westhaven & Park - Request for Trimming a Hedge for Sight Distance
The Committee agreed with staff's recommendation to notify the
property owner to trim the hedge back in accordance with City
Standards.
Anytime Signs
This item will be brought before the Traffic Safety Commission
for their action. The Committee recommended posting No Parkiing Anytime signs until the street is fully improved.
4. Valley between Magnolia & Andrea Avenue - Request for No Parking
5. Paseo Del Norte & Poinsettia Lane - Change Yield Sign to Stop s%!l
This item will be brought before the Traffic Safety Commission
for thei~r action. The Comittee recommended changing the existing
Yield sign to a Stop sign until this intersection warrants a
signal.

6. Chestnut Avenue between Sierra Morena & Pontiac; Esfera between
Cadencia and La Costa Avenue - Request for 25 mph Sp eed Limit
It is the Committee's recommendation not to post any 25 mph
speed limit signs at either location, but to request the Police Department to continue enforcement on these streets.

7. Alga & Cazadero - Request for a Signal
Since the warrants for a signal are not met at this intersection,
the Committee recommended denying this request at this time.

8. Longview Drive - Red Curb
At the Traffic Safety Commission meeting, the motion was made to
paint red curb on both sides of Longview Drive, according to an Engineering study. It is staff's recommendation to paint red curb on the inside of the curve only. It will be requested at
the next Traffic Safety Commission meeting to amend that motion
to paint curb red curb on the insdie curve only.
