MINUTES
Members Present: Chairman Ron Beckman, Roger Greer,
Members Absent: Jim Thompson.
Others Present: Marty Bouman, Steve Tisdale, Sgt. Mike Shipley.
Vince Jimno, Gerald Long.
1. Approval of Minutes
The Minutes of the May 21, 1984 Meeting were approved as
presented.
2. Request for Midblock crosswalk on Elm between Fire Station No. 1
and the Library
The Committee recommended denial of this request because of the false sense of security and poor sight distance for a midblock crosswalk. Pedestrians should use the signalized intersection to cross the street. It was suggested the Credit Union could be relocated to City Hall to reduce the midblock crossings. This item should be included in the City Manager's Newsletter.
3. Monroe and Alder and Sunnyhill - Request for additional traffic
control
Since there have not been any accidents caused by violation of
right-of-way at this intersection, the Committee recommended
denial of this request. Staff will request the Parks and Recreation Department to trim some bushes to increase the sight
distance. Staff will re-evaluate this intersection when Tamarack goes through.
INFORMATIONAL ITEMS
1. Carlsbad Boulevard between the jetties - remove guardrail on
the east side of the street
Since the condition of the guardrail at this location is dangerous,
and is deteriorating, the Utilities/Maintenance Department is
going to remove the guardrail. They will install 100' of new guardrail on the east side of Carlsbad Boulevard just south of
the Agua Hedionda Bridge.
