MINUTES MEMBERS PRESENT: Bob Johnson (Chairman), Roger Greer, Chief Vince Jimno, Chief Jim Thompson MEMBERS ABSENT: Jerry Long 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the June 23, 1986 meeting were approved as presented. CLOSURE OF GARFIELD STREET BETWEEN ELM AVENUE AND GRAND AVENUE The Committee recommends to the Traffic Safety Commission that this portion of Garfield Street be closed and turned into a parking lot. The Committee would like to review the final design, prior to construction. Angled parking and one-way direction would likely be required in the design of the parking lot with a speed limit of 10-15 MPH established. ALICANTE ROAD/EL FUERTE STREET SPEED LIMIT POSTING Recommend to the Traffic Safety Commission that a 40 MPH speed limit be established on Alicante Road from Alga to Corte De La Vista and from Corte De La Vista to Alga on El Fuerte Street. Recommend no parking striping be placed on Alicante Road due to its designation as a Secondary Arterial. PARK DRIVE AND KELLY DRIVE STOP SIGN REQUEST Recommend to the Traffic Safety Commission that the requests for stop signs be denied. LEVANTE STREET/ROMERIA STREET STOP SIGNS This was an off agenda item brought up by Bob Johnson. The Committee recommends to the City Coundil that no stop signs be placed on Levante Street. Recognizing that an elementary school is being constructed and that the Traffic Safety Commission recommended stop signs, the additional stop signs are unwarranted at this intersection. Next meeting scheduled on August 25, 1986, 3:OO P.M. at 2075 Las Palmas Drive in the Engineering Department's new location.
