Attendees: Bob Johnson, Mike Shirey (Traffic Engineering Division), Bob Gennan (Risk Management), Jim Thompson (Fire Chief), Jerry Long (Auto Club), Sgt. Mike Shipley (Police Department) Items Discussed: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Meeting was called to order at 8:38 a.m. ADDrOVal of Minutes. The minutes of the Friday, September 25, 1987 Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee meeting were approved as presented. Oral Communications: There was no audience in attendance to comment on this item. Carlsbad Boulevard at Cerezo Drive - Request for painted crosswalk on Carl sbad Boulevard. Bob Johnson gave the staff report as contained in the packet. After discussion a motion was moved, seconded, and passed unanimously to recommend to the Traffic Safety Comnission to deny the painting of a crosswalk on Carlsbad Boulevard at Cerezo Drive. Calavera Hills - Request for "NO PARKING" Zone on one side of Middleton Drive, Woodstock Street and Glasqow Drive. Bob Johnson gave the staff report as contained in the packet. After discussion a motion was moved seconded, and passed unanimously to recommend the following to the Traffic Safety Commission. 1. 2. 3. Do not restrict parking on Glasgow Drive. Create a NO PARKING zone on the northerly and easterly sides of Middleton Drive and Woodstock Street. Evaluate the request for a painted crosswalk and 4-way STOP at the park entrance after the park opens and traffic volumes increase. 4. Do not install a NO RIGHT TURN sign at the park exit to Glasgow Drive. 5. Do not install a STOP sign on New Haven Place at the Middleton Drive intersection. 6. Do not install a STOP sign at the Middleton Drive/Woodstock Street intersection. 7. Install a STOP sign on Dover Way at the Woodstock Street intersection. 8. Do not install a NO OUTLET sign on Woodstock Street, immediately 6. Cadencia Street - Establish prima facie speed limit on lower portion of east of Middleton Drive. Cadencia Street, north of La Costa Avenue. Bob Johnson gave the staff report as contained in the packet. Discussion ensued involving whether or not to post the street either 35 miles per hour or 40 miles per hour based upon the engineering and speed survey. A concurrence could not be reached among Comnittee members regarding the posting of a speed limit on the street. Further items such as additional signing and striping were discussed but could not be recmnded at this time. It was the consensus of the Committee to investigate Cadencia Street further, with recommendations being made at a later date. 7. Other Business. There was no other business brought before the Committee. 8. Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday the next meeting of the Traffic Safety Coordinating Committee will be held at the Las Palmas Engineering Conference Room on Tuesday, November 24, 1987 at 8:30 a.m. Meeting adjourned at 9:39 a.m. 9.
