Our records indicate tbat your building permit will expire by limitation of time on 4/22/2000.
The provisions of UBC, Section 106.4.4 as amended by tbe Carlsbad Municipal Code state: "EXPIRATION.
Every permit issued by tbe Building Official under tbe provisions of tbis code shall expire by limitation and
become null and void if tbe building or work authorized by such permit is not commenced witbin one calendar
year from the date of such permit, or if the building or work authorized by such permit is stopped at any time
after the work is commenced for a period of six consecutive calendar months or if the building or work
authorized by such permit exceeds tbree calendar years from tbe issuance date of permit. Work shall be
presumed to have commenced if tbe permittee has obtained a required inspection approval of work authorized
by tbe permit by tbe Building Official within one year of the date of permit issuance. Work shall be presumed
to be stopped if the permittee has not obtained a required inspection approval of work by tbe Building Official
within each six montb period upon the initial commencement of work authorized by such permit."
Before such work can be recommenced, a new permit, or a renewal permit as specified in tbe attached copy of
the code, shall be obtained.
Any person holding an unexpired permit may apply for an extension of the time within which he may
commence work under tbat permit when he is unable to commence work witbin tbe time required by this
section for good and satisfactory reasons. The Building Official may extend the time for action by the
permittee for a period not exceeding 180 days upon written request by the permittee showing that
circumstances beyond tbe control of tbe permittee have prevented action from being taken. No permit shall be
extended more tban once.
