Library & Cultural Arts
• With the recently implemented stay-at-home order, the library has extended due dates
for all materials checked out to encourage patrons to stay at home and eliminate stress of
accruing fines. The prior due date was Dec. 31. All items are now due on March 31, 2021.
Staff are monitoring turnover rates as well as queue lengths and purchasing additional
items as necessary.
• Library children’s staff are re-launching a virtual version of the popular Paws to Read
program this afternoon. This program encourages children to practice their read-out-
loud skills by reading to therapy dogs in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. Therapy
dogs are provided by volunteers from Love on a Leash, a non-profit volunteer pet
therapy group. Reading to dogs has been shown to improve the reading and
comprehension skills of participants while lowering their stress and anxiety level. The
program, formerly held twice a month at the libraries, is now offered with registration
via Zoom.

Park pickleball courts beginning Dec. 17, 2020, in keeping with the latest
