At both ends of the new grade beam near the kitchen, four #6 rebar dowels installed with a 6" embedment. The holes were drilled with a carbide drill bit into what appeared to be sound and cured concrete. The holes were cleaned by brushing and blowing clean and dry. Simpson XP epoxy injected into the bottom of the holes. The work done is in general conformance with the plans, and good construction practices NOTED DISCREPANCIES -The items noted below were observed to be in non-conformance with the approved project documents and will require correction or the design engineer's review for approval: NOTICE: Unless otherwise stated, the work observed was, to the best of my knowledge, in compliance with the approved project documents. Chimneys shall extend at least 3' above the highest point where it passes through a roof and at least 2' higher than any portion of a building within a horizontal distance of 10 feet. CIVIC Section 802.5.2.1 C) If not decorative gas fireplace then note on the plans that approved spark arrestors shall be installed on all chimneys. CBC Section 2802.1. d) If not decorative gas fireplace then verify any decorative shrouds will not be installed at the termination of chimneys for factory-built fireplaces, except where such shrouds are listed and labeled for use with the specific system and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions. 18. In non- fire sprinklered buildings walls within 5 ft of property line are required to be detailed and reference how obtaining the required one hour separation from foundation to roof sheathing . This would require double full depth blocks at plate lines where floor joist and for rafters/trusses occur. The interior walls would need to be 5/8 X and exterior to be 7/8" stucco. If proposing to use siding (including cement boards) then detail and reference required underlayment i.e. 5/8X. If using Hardie siding then please review Hardie listing (NER-405) and shown on plans how the Hardie siding compiles i.e. 5/8X or 7/16" Titan or Hardibacker backerboard.
