UBC Section 107.2 requires the Building Official to determine the total value of all construction work proposed under this permit. The calculation provided for overturning of the rack only. What about support the vertical load? All calculation shall comply with UBC 2222. Recheck the "pallet" racks as follows: Include the 25% increase in vertical loading for impact per Section 2228.2 Recheck the lateral analysis for double the seismic loads. The loads may only be reduced by one half for double-row racks. The plans show all single-row racks. Section 2228.5.2. THERE MUST BE FOUR COLUMNS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS ON ALL COLUMN LINES. Provide a seismic distribution of lateral loads per Section 2228.5.2. In retail and wholesale areas where racks are interconnected to permit the 50% reduction in the seismic design load , the 50% reduction may only be used when C/RW is a minimum 0.50. The types and amounts of hazardous materials associated Isis Pharmaceuticals existing operations were addressed in the. December 2003 SCIF Laboratory non-impact report, with these conditions previously approved and permitted by the City of Carlsbad. 4AppIlcable Codes: The 2001 California Codes have been used as the baseline for requirements and conditions applicable to this project. Isis Pharmaceuticals - Control Area 211890 Rutherford Road, Carlsbad CA California Codes Analysis - Non-Impact Code Compliance/Technical Report 2.0 Shipping and Receiving New Rack Storage Conditions Non-Impact Conditions: Isis new rack storage operations in the existing Shipping and Receiving area are viewed as "non- impact" conditions as such conditions relate to construction requirements and a Code Compliance/Technical Report. The reasons for the "non-impact" conditions are as follows: Storage operations will not involve hazardous materials storage. Storage operations will not involve high-piled combustible storage conditions for which in-rack fire sprinklers will be required. The new rack storage conditions will occupy less than 300 sf of the existing previously approved and permitted Shipping and Receiving area. "Existing automatic fire sprinkler system protection in the existing Shipping and Receiving area will be more than adequate for the new rack storage operations. New Rack Storage Operations: Hazardous Materials: None. Location: Existing, previously approved and permitted Shipping and Receiving area. New Rack Storage Conditions: Relocate nine (9] existing storage racks from Isis Pharmaceuticals 1891 Rutherford Road building to the existing Shipping and Receiving area in Control Area 2 of Isis Pharmaceuticals 1890 Rutherford Road building. Existing racks are metal construction with open/wire mesh shelving with dimensions as follows: Two [2] Racks: 5' long by 3' deep by <20' high. Six [6] Racks: 8' long by 3' deep by <20' high. One [1] Rack: 7' long by 3' deep by <20' high. Rack arrangements will be double-row. [back-to-back racks] with >1=6" flue spaces between back- to-back racks and >/=4' aisles on three [3] sides of the rack arrangement. Floor area occupied by the racks will be <300 sf [approximately 7' x 34' floor area] Storage commodities and storage heights abdve the finished floor will be as shown in the table on page iv. Existing automatic fire sprinkler system design in the Shipping and Receiving area is at least equivalent to 0.45 gpm over 3,000 sf with sprinklers spaced at <1=130 sf which exceeds • applicable 1999 NFPA 13, Table 7-2.3.2.2 Discharge Criteria for Miscellaneous Storage and Storage 12' or Less in Height.
