Executive Summary/Discussion Community Arts Coordinator Megan Gilby will share a five-year historical overview of Community Arts Grants cycles, as well as the outcome of the 2020-2021 Community Arts Grants Funding Plan for Round Two. Staff requests the Arts Commission’s review and approval. Next Steps Staff will facilitate the administration of all grants and begin planning for the 2021-2022 grant cycle. City of Carlsbad, Community Arts Grants Proposed Funding Plan 2020 11/22/2019 City of Carlsbad Community Arts Grants Funding Plan 2020 During the 2020 Community Arts Grants application review process, the Cultural Arts office invited five panelists to review and score applications in three categories. The panelists included representatives from various arts organizations and community members over a span of two days, November 13 and November 15, 2019. The sessions were facilitated by Cultural Arts office staff who provided resource and assistance as needed. The grant applications were comprised of three categories: Educational Institutions, Arts Projects, and Capacity Building. Each category on the rubric had a maximum point value of 10, with a total maximum of 30 points per application. The rubric included the criteria of quality of programs, community impact and management capability. With input from the Grants Subcommittee approval from the Arts Commission, staff adjusted the guidelines and scoring processes for the CAG 2020/2021 cycle to align with current health order, and to create flexibility to best meet the needs of our grantees.
