Cost of COVID-19 For Police Department

This memorandum provides information on COVID-19 expenditures to date for the Carlsbad
Police Department.
Expenditure information was captured during last week's City Council meeting update on the
COVID-19 Actions and Expenditure Report, however, there was a specific request for a
breakdown of expenditures by the Police Department. There was also an additional request for
a breakdown of potential future costs should the City Council make any changes to public·
access at Carlsbad parks, trails and beach. This information will be provided during the staff
presentation at Friday's City Council meeting.
From March 13, 2020 to April 26, 2020, the Police Department has incurred the following
expenses directly related to COVID-19:
Overtime for COVID-19 related operations
1,833 hours Personal Protective Equipment
Masks, gloves, safety glasses Cleaning Services
Decontamination stations and cleaning of common areas
Sanitizing Equipment
Clorox wipes, hand sanitizers
