Section R302.3.1. 11. Provide a note on the plans stating: "Penetrations of fire-resistive walls and floor- ceilings shall be protected as required in CRC Section R302.4." 12. Walls and floors separating the main unit and the accessory unit shall have a sound transmission class (STC) of not less than 50. Additionally, floors must have an impact insulation class (IIC) rating of not less than 50. CBC Sec. 1207. Show the location of & provide details of the listed wall and floor/ceiling assemblies & indicate the listing agency & listing number for the tested ratings. 13. If the project is located in noise critical areas (CNEL contours of 60 dB) as shown on the City or County's General Plan, then an acoustical analysis showing that the proposed building has been designed to limit noise in habitable rooms to CNEL of forty-five dB is required. Where windows must be closed to comply, it is necessary to provide mechanical ventilation capable of providing at least two air changes per hour. Provide design. The Title Sheet or Site Plan should clearly indicate if any portion of the project is in a noise critical area (CNEL contours of 60 dB) as shown on the City or County's General Plan. If no portion of the project is within a noise critical area, provide a note on the Title Sheet stating: "This project is not within a noise critical area (CNEL contour of 60 dB) as shown on the General Plan". 15. Open risers are only permitted if the opening between treads does not permit the passage of a 4" diameter sphere. Section R311.7.5.1. 16. A nosing (between¾" and 1-¼") shall be provided on stairways with solid risers. Exception: No nosing is required if the tread depth is min. 11". Sec. R311.7.5.3. 17. Provide stairway and landing details. Section R311.7: a) Maximum rise is 7-3/4" and minimum run is 10", measured from the nosing projection. Where there is no nosing, the minimum run is 11 ". b) The greatest riser height within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch. The greatest tread depth within any flight of stairs shall not exceed the smallest by more than 3/8 inch. 18. Openable windows shall be located a minimum of 1 O' from any plumbing vents, etc. Section R303.5. 19. Handrails(SectionR311.7.8): c) Shall be provided on at least one side of each stairway with four or more risers. d) Handrails and extensions shall be 34" to 38" above nosing of treads and be continuous. e) The handgrip portion of all handrails shall be not less than 1-¼" nor more than 2" in cross sectional dimension. See Section R311.7.8.3 for alternatives. f) Handrails projecting from walls shall have at least 1-½" between the wall and the handrail. g) Ends of handrails shall be returned or shall have rounded terminations or bends. 20. Glazing in the following locations should be shown on the plans as safety glazing material in accordance with Section R308.4: h) Glazing in doors. i) Glazing adjacent to a door where the nearest vertical edge of the glazing is within a 24" arc of either vertical edge of the door in a closed position and where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60" above the walking surface. j) Glazing adjacent to the landing at the bottom of a stairway, where the glazing is less than 36" above the landing and within 60' horizontally of the bottom tread. 21. Note on plans that surface water will drain away from building. The grade shall fall a minimum of 6" within the first 10 feet. Section R401.3. For the addition only. 22. Include the following electrical notes on plans: k) Tamper resistant receptacles for all locations described in 210.52 (i.e., all receptacles in a dwelling). I) Weather resistant type for receptacles installed in damp or wet locations (outside). m) Arc-fault protection for all outlets (not just receptacles) located in rooms described in NEC 210.12(A): Kitchens, laundry areas, family, living, bedrooms, dining, halls, etc. n) GFCI protected outlets for locations described in NEC 210.8(A): Laundry areas, kitchen dishwashers, kitchens, garages, bathrooms, outdoors, within 6' of a sink, etc. CARLSBAD CBR2018-0526 MAR. 14, 2018 23. Show on the plans the location, type and size (Btu's) of all heating and cooling appliances or systems for the accessory unit. 25. Specify minimum ¼ inch per foot deck slope for drainage.
