Environmental Evaluation (CEQA) Pursuant to Public Resources Code Section 21065, this action does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of CEQA in that it has no potential to cause either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment, and therefore does not require environmental review. Public Notification This item was noticed in accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act and was available for public viewing and review at least 72 hours prior to the scheduled meeting date. Exhibits 1. Activities: The 'Carlsbad Art Wall' project (director and founder) has brought 15 new murals and live painting experiences to the Carlsbad Village since 2015. I haven given highly attended mural tours of the Village of (30+ attendees) www.snyderartdesign.com Based on the data from the Dec. 2017 Arts & Culture Plan online survey, 'the Village' ranked highest when ask where residents attend arts/culture events. I have been an active community member, both art and general, for 1 O years. I keep very informed on all Additional local Cultural Arts agendas, minutes and events. Data from the above survey also Information suggests the lackluster interest in City Art events/news from the youth. 75% of survey or participants were age 44+. Only 7.1 % of participants were under age 34. I can help comments: increase the engagement of the younger demographic. My projects and community involvement was mention in numerous Open-Ended question responses from the above survey. My positive impact on the community is undeniable. March 13, 2018 Item #7 Page 8 of 10 APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT-PAGE 2 Education: Experience: I am a ULCA alumni, with a BA in anthropology/archaeology and a minor in English. I served as lead bachelor's assistant in UCLA's Zooarchaeology Lab for two years, and have an expertise in prehistoric Panamanian artifacts after working several years with a 1,000 year old site in the jungles of Panama's Caribbean coast. In conjunction with my anthropology degree, I also focused on modern'American literature & creative writing. I took great interest in art theory and the new genres of performance art & installation. My coursework included photography, ceramics, and painting. My experience ranges from hands-on community involvement to direct experience with museums. In my hometown of Thousand Oaks, I served as a Friend of the Civic Arts Plaza, which is one of the largest performing arts centers in California. I assisted with multimedia for special events including Broadway musicals and dance companies. I also volunteered as a docent for Gardens of the World, teaching students about the plants and culture of countries around the globe. In addition to community works, museums have been a passion since my years with UCLA. I helped shape the Fowler Museum's Neolithic Chinese ceramics exhibition and contributed to the common language translation captions for the Old English illuminated manuscripts exhibition. Furthermore, my team's artifact excavation and research from prehistoric Sitio Drago in Panama have spear-headed the area's first museum. I have a passion for all things local. From local businesses to community activities, I take pride in being an active member of my city. As a Carlsbad transplant, I have made it a priority to be very active as an Arts Commissioner since 2015. I have volunteered & attended the TGIF Concerts in the Park series, cor:i':1.unity and enjoyed having the opportunity to meet new people and support local food Act,v,t,es: businesses. As a member of the Yelp Elite community, I was one of the VIP Additional Information or Comments: attendees for the La Costa Film Festival. I had the opportunity to screen countless amazing films as well as meet many local film & arts enthusiasts. I also enjoy volunteering in after school arts programs, and lead seasonal paint series with elementary schools in Manhattan Beach. I spend much of my time in the Village and love the charm of the neighborhood. The pink tree-lined streets, sculpture at the round-about, and art murals set a creative tone unique to the rest of the city. Art has always been used as a tool to express the character of a city. I hope to get the opportunity to help highlight the small-town feel and beach community character of Carlsbad. I enjoy attending Carlsbad Village Assocation meetings to connect with local businesses. I also look forward to attending all of Bryan Snyder's curated murals. To help spread the word of all of the amazing arts happenings in Carlsbad, I have developed Arts San Diego instagram account.
