Biology Experience: Arizona State University Tempe, AZ Enrolled in the Project Management Professional Certification Program at the UCSD I have 20 plus years working in the field of pharmaceutical drug discovery and development. For a majority of that time I worked as a Scientist and have compiled a strong portfolio of scientific publications and patented IP/inventions, but more importantly have participated in the discovery of a number of drugs with the potential of improving patients' lives. Since 2015, I have worked as a Project Manager, a capacity in which I have planned, managed, and progressed a diverse range of projects and programs that include internal initiatives and external alliances and collaborations with clinical, pharmaceutical, governmental, and academic entities. I have lived in Carlsbad for almost 20 years now and am excited about the many changes and improvements in the city, and specifically the Village and Barrio, and am very proud to have been an active participant in this positive transformation. One of the community efforts I lead, was to get the city to recognize the necessity of building a pedestrian/bike c . crossing at the tracks at Chestnut Avenue in the Barrio. I presented a Powerpoint A~:~i~::'ty presentation to the City Council and submitted a petition with hundreds of signatures from local residents in support of this effort, and after almost 14 years, the city has now prominently included the crossing in the Village and Barrio Master Plan. In addition to efforts I have lead, I have been actively involved in the monthly Operation Barrio Strong, City Council, and Planning Commission Meetings and charretts. One my attributes, which admittedly was learned rather than innate, that I feel would be an asset in the capacity of a City Planning Commissioner, is the understanding of the challenges in dealing with the vast array of opinions that are brought to bear on almost Additional every decision the city makes. In being actively involved in planning meetings, as well as Information the monthly Operation Barrio Strong discussions, I understand the challenge in achieving or a consensus of opinion the city can feel confident in. As a father of two kids who have Comments: lived in Carlsbad their entire lives, I am committed to doing what is best for the community in the long-term, but am fully prepared for the challenge in planning for and implementing positive change where needed. Thank you for your consideration.
