As requested, this letter provides soil panmeters for retaidng wall design rcqucsted by Retaining
Walls Company North. The parameters provided kin arc based on our previous analysis of the
siu conditions prcsenred in the rtfmncxd Imr, We understand thc walls are proposed at the top
of the existing 2:1 (horizontal:vertical) fill slopes at the rear of Lou 85.86, and 88. Our analysis
is based on 8 maximum wall height of approximately 6 kt. The f~llowing parameters may be used
fbr the &tip of the proposed Cri block walls.

Backfill matend should be compacted to at least 90 percent of rhe laboratory maximum dq density
in accordance with ASTM D 1557. If import soils are used fbr wall bprckfill, they should be tat4
by Gemtechnics lncorporatcd to compare the shear strength and unit weight values to actual dcsip
values. We recommend the soils used as backfill be prcdominantfy t?ee draining, pmular, fire of
oaanic and clay materials, end haw a very low expansion potential (Expansion Index of 20 or less).
Adequate drnhage should be provided to relieve hydrostatic pressures.
The recommendations prescntedhcrein are considered generally consistent with merhvds typically
used in southern Cdifomia, Md have been developed using the degree of care end skill ordinarily
exercised, under similar circmstanccs, by reputable seatechnical consultants practicing in this or
similar localities. No other warranty, utpnssed or implied, is made as to ?he conclusions and
professional opinions included in this letter.
