Meeting started at 9:35 a.m.
Lewis Michaelson thanked the Committee for their participation in the first three
Continued Community Conversations that were held on March 3rd, 4th and 5th.
On the flip chart pad, Lewis Michaelson put the objectives that were used for the first
two Community Conversations. They were:
• Continue the education
• Lots of public participation
• Youth participation
• Diversity of public participation
• New voices
• Quality input
• Momentum
Some other objectives that were noted for the Continued Community Conversations
were:
• More in-depth interaction and dialogue
• Greater understanding of constraints
• Prioritize/narrow
• Everyone’s perspective is valued
The Committee discussed that they felt that they met most of these objectives with first
three Continued Community Conversations and hoped that the fourth meeting would go
just as well as the first three. The Committee felt that we were not very successful with
youth participation, but felt that we had new voices in the room.
Diane Lantz indicated that all the presentations were great and that Michael Holzmiller
and Gary Barberio did a wonderful job.
Lewis indicated that you could tell that by the questions that were asked during the Q &
A.
There was discussion centered around the confusion of the public regarding agriculture
on the properties being discussed. Gary Hill that agriculture can be extreme and
intense.
Next Steps
Denise Vedder distributed a sheet of facts regarding outreach and what the next steps
would be for outreach. There was some discussion from the Committee.
After the last Continued Community Conversation an on-line version of the surveys
would be available to those citizens who could not make it to the scheduled meetings.
The on-line surveys would continue until April 1, 2008. Staff would compile the data
from those surveys.
The Committee decided that they would like a Synthesizing Workshop to bring the
information together. Staff should work with the consultant for a date sometime after
Ajpril 15, 2008 for this workshop. The Committee also decided to have a meeting to
review the data from the on-line surveys prior to the Synthesizing Workshop.
The Committee also agreed that a design charrette would need to be completed before
the end of June 2008
Public Comment
