TITLE: AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION
OF FIRE STA'ridN #4
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Council ado_pt Resolution No. 3-½>l.o , accepting a bid and awarding
a contract to Crest Construction Corporation of Escondido, California for
the construction of Fire Station #4.
ITEM EXELANATION:
On January 7, 1986 the Council authorized the City Clerk and Purchasing
Officer to advertise for and accept bids for the construction of Fire Station
#4. ·Following the publishing of the Notice to Bidders, nine responses were
received, opened, witnessed, and recorded on February 11, 1986. The
bids, which were comprised of a base bid and ten alternate items, ,ranged
from $364,093 to $462,542. These bids were reviewed by the Fire Department
staff and their architect, Esbensen & Associates.
Crest Construction Corporation, 140 W. Woodward Avenue, Escondido, CA
92025, was the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $364,093. In
the interest of staying within the available fundi.ng, aiternate items one
(diesel fuel system, $19,600) and eight (clay tile roof $10,950) have been
eliminated. The resultant recommended bid amount is $333,543.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Funds in the ~mount of $344,308 .10 are available for construction in project
account 032-1810-1325 leaving $10,765.10 available kr unforeseen conting~ncies.
All applicable permit fees and utility service fees arl' already paid.

4 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, as

6 1. That the bid of Crest Construction Corporation is hereby accepted,
7 and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract for the construction
8 of Fire Station #4 in the amount of $333,543.
9 PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City
