ITEM EXPLANATION
The City Council, at your meeting of March 19, 1985, directc
the City Attorney to prepare documents approving SDP 84-5 - Carlsbad Gateway Center, which would allow construction of E mixed use industrial/off ice complex on 16.5 acres of propert
generally located on the east side of El Camino Real north c the Cablevision building. That: document is attached -
The adoption of the Resolution will:
1. Approve the project as conditioned by the Planning
2. Result in a denial of the applicant's appeal of conditions 34 and 35 of Planning Commission Resolution No. 2410; and
Commission;
3. Make a finding that the construction of Palmer Way
to the Barber connection is necessary to handle
the traffic from this prohject.
Mr. Lounsbery, in a letter dated March 20, 1985, has asked for "clarification" of the conditions that apply to this
project. Staff does not think that any clarification is necessary. The City Engineer has replied directly to Mr.
Lounsbery and it remains staff's recommendation that Council adopt Resolution No. t*7ys-l.

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING WITH CONDITIONS
A SITE DEVELOPMENT PLAN 84-5 TO ALLOW CONSTRUCT101 OF A MIXED USE INDUSTRIAL/OFFICE COMPLEX ON 16.5
ACRES OF PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF EL CAMINO REAL NORTH OF THE CABLEVISION BUILDING.

WHEREAS on February 14, 1985, the Carlsbad Plannil
Commission adopted Resolution No. 2410 approving SDP 84-5:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad
December 18, 1984 and on March 19, 1985 held hearings to
consider the recommendations and heard all persons interes'
or opposed to Site Development Plan No. 84-5; and
WHEREAS, the Land Use Planning Manager and the Eli
Commission have determined that the project will not have
significant impacts on the environment and a Negative Decl,
has been prepared, filed and approved by the Planning Comm
on February 14, 1985 in satisfaction of the requirements o
City of Carlshad Environmental Protection Ordinance of 1981
