Subject: Resigation from the Carlsbad Arts Commission
PLEASE PASS TO MAYOR MATT HALL AND MAYOR PRO TEM ANN KULCHIN
Dear Mayor: I write to inform you that I have accepted a new professional appointment that will require my
presence in Los Angeles. Starting in late June, I will assume responsibilities as the Deputy Director of
Operations for The Broad Art Foundation, http://wwvtf.broadartfoundation.org, the private art foundation of
Eli and Edythe Broad. Over the course of the coming months, the Foundation will begin construction on a new
contemporary art museum located just next door to the Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.
Although Terry and I will maintain our residence in Carlsbad and be here often, I will not be available for
further service on the Carlsbad Arts Commission. I therefore tender my resignation from the Commission
effective June 15, 2011. I will preside over the June 2 Commission meeting and have initiated steps to identify
a new Chair who will be elected at this meeting.
Thank you for the opportunity to have served the City of Carlsbad, it has been a great pleasure to be part of
the Arts Commission these past five years, and I am very grateful for the support of you and the Council.
With sincere appreciation and all best regards,
Heath Fox
Assistant Dean
Division of Arts and Humanities
