RED CITY MGR..=;)YZ/t RECOMMENDED ACTION: I Information item, no action required. ITEM EXPLANATION: At your meeting of March 27, 1990, Council received a report from staff regarding the implementation of the City's Paint-A-Thon Program. The Program provides up to $300,in paint and supplies to low income homeowners for exterior painting. At that time, Council requested that ~ staff report back with an update on the progress of the Program. In April 1990, Housing and Redevelopment Department staff implemented the Paint-A-Thon outreach program which included the development of flyers and newspaper publications. As a result, staff began processing applications immediately. As of July 9, 1990, a total of 21 paint vouchers have been issued with six additional applications being processed. Council allocated a total of $10,000 in 13th year CDBG funds for this program. Each paint voucher provides up to $300 in paint and supplies. At this rate, a maximum of 33 paint vouchers can be issued. Staff estimates that remaining funds are available to issue approximately six more paint vouchers. Based on the current rate of applications being received, it is expected that the total funds allocated for this Program will be expended by September 1990. The Program has been highly successful in assisting low income homeowners maintain their homes. I FISCAL IMPACT: Funds in the amount of $10,000 are appropriated in the City's 13th Year Urban County - Community Development Block Grant program budget (302-840-1890-3735).
