SUBJECT PS 95-10 - ARTECON
Thank you for applying for Land Use Permits in the City of Carlsbad. The Planning Department
has reviewed your Sign Program, application no. PS 95-10, as to its completeness for processing.
The application is complete, as submitted. Although the initial processing of your application
may have already begun, the technical acceptance date is acknowledged by the date of this
communication. The City may, in the course of processing the application, request that you
clarify, amplify, correct or otherwise supplement the basic information required for the
application. In addition, you should also be aware that various design issues may exist. These
issues must be addressed before this application can be scheduled for a hearing. The Planning
Department will begin processing your application as of the date of this communication.
Attached is a list of information and corrections needed in order to create an acceptable sign

NECESSARY INFORMATION & CORRECTIONS
No. PS 95-10 - Artecon
1. To establish consistency with other wall signs in the industrial parks along El Camino
Real, staff has determined that the maximum letter and logo height shall be limited to 18
inches. The background color, which I presume to be yellow, shall not exceed 2 feet 6
inches in height and 20 feet wide. Please revise the plans accordingly.
2. Please add the following text to the site plan or elevation plan:
A) All signs shall receive a permit from the City of Carlsbad prior to installation.
B) All signs shall conform to the City's sign ordbpnce and the criteria of this
program. Any change to the sign criteria shall require a formal amendment
subject to the Planning Director's approval.
C) Sign text and logo shall not exceed 18 inches in height. The backdrop (yellow
portion), which is considered a part of the sign, shall not exceed 20 feet in length
and 2 feet 6 inches in height.
D) Except for address numbers and directional signs, all signs shall be limited to
displaying the business name and/or logo.
E) Sign material shall be limited to foam, wood, plastic, metal or other material
found acceptable by the Planning Director. Exterior and interior illuminated signs
shall be permitted. The design of such lighting is subject to Planning Directois
approval. Sign and background color is also subject to the Planning Director's
approval.
F) Any discrepancies or issues arising within this sign program shall be resolved by
the Planning Director.
3. If you have plans to add additional signs in the future, we suggest that you plan such
signs into this sign program. Otherwise, you will be required to amend the program in
the future.
