Subject: Denial of Sidewalk Sign Permit
Dear Mr. Duchon:
Thank you for submitting your application for a Sidewalk Sign Permit. The Carlsbad
Village Redevelopment Master Plan allows each business one free standing sidewalk
sign. Based upon the site plan you submitted, your business has three such signs.
Therefore, two of the freestanding signs must be removed prior to your application being
approved.
Second, for any Village business to be permitted a Sidewalk Sign, all other existing signs
must be in conformance with the Carlsbad Village Redevelopment Master Plan. Your
business currently has four intemally illuminated box signs, and the new Master Plan
prohibits such signs. Although the signs are non-conforming under this regulation, you
may continue to keep them. However, your request for a sidewalk sign is hereby denied.
This decision may be appealed to the Design Review Board within 10 days of this
decision
Enclosed, please find a copy of the appeal form should you wish to appeal the above
decision. If you have any questions about the above information, please call me at (760)
434-2817.
Sincerely,
Craig DTRuiz
