Serious Injury Collision on 1/31/21
•Suspect was under the influence of narcotics when he
hit a bicyclist on Circulo Sequoia
•Suspect left his car nearby and attempted to flee. He
was later apprehended and arrested for felony hit and
run and driving under the influence causing injury.

E-Bike Enforcement & Education
•E-bike safety social media post on 1/22/21
•E-Bike social media post today 2/1/21 reference the
San Diego County Bicycle Coalition “Virtual Smart
Riding Class”
•E-bike enforcement taking place along Carlsbad Blvd
and in the Village

OTS DUI Saturations Details
•December 19th –January 1st for Holiday Season
–21 DUI arrests
•Next weekend’s Saturation-February 6th and 7th for
Super Bowl Weekend

Carlsbad Schools
•Carlsbad Unified School District Elementary Schools
–Opened 5 days per week on Jan 25, 2021
–Motors assisting with traffic enforcement, traffic control
and welcoming kids back

Park Fire
•The Traffic Division was the Evacuation team for the
Park Fire on January 20th-knocking on hundreds of
doors & assisting residents evacuate
•No injuries reported or structures lost during this
incident

Update on Loud Exhaust
•Enforcement continues….
•Since August 1st, Motors have written 83 citations and
16 warnings for Loud Exhaust violations

Intro of New Traffic Lieutenant
•In March, Lt. Calderwood will be rotating to
Investigations and Lt. Steve Thomas will be rotating to
the Traffic Division
