Final Report of Geotechnical Observation and Soil Testing
Proposed Granny Flat Site
3926 Highland Drive
Carlsbad, California
This report presents the results of our geotechnical observation and testing of fill soils
placed during the grading and development for the proposed granny flat site on subject
property, more specifically referred to as being APN 207-130-60-00, in the City of
Carlsbad, State of California.
Rough Grading
Prior to commencement of rough grading, the site was cleared and grubbed, and the debris
hauled away and disposed of offsite.
Grading operation consisted primarily of excavation for the building pad. Approximately
98 cubic yards of soils were generated and stored on-site for use as backfill behind the
building retaining walls. The grading for the building pad was completed in June, 2019,
and consists entirely of natural soils. Upon completion, 3 in-situ density tests were taken
at finished grade. Test results indicate relative compaction exceeding 90 percent of
maximum dry density in accordance with ASTMD1557.
Inspection of Foundation Trench Excavations
After completion of rough grading, excavations for the foundation of the granny flat and
retaining wall in the northwest comer of the building pad were then accomplished and
inspected and approved by our firm. The results of our inspection indicate that the
foundation trenches inspected were into competent natural soils.
