E-Bike Enforcement & Education-February
•E-bike Safety
–Placing an Electronic Message Board on Carlsbad Blvd
reminding bicyclists to wear a helmet
•In the month of February, the Motors wrote 25
citations for bicyclists (mostly e-bike users) for
running red lights & those under 18 not wearing a
helmet. S.D Bicycle Coalition cards being handed out.

Super Bowl Weekend
•DUI Saturation Results
–60 Traffic Stops
–31 Citations
–22 Written Warnings
–1 DUI Arrest/Tow

Traffic Division 2018-2020 Recap
•Went from 6 Motor Officers to 8 Motor Officers
•Added a Timed Parking Enforcement unit with two
additional C.S.O’s & vehicles equipped with LPR’s
•Increased our security footprint at large scale city
Special Events by working with Homeland Security,
Parks & Rec, F.D and Public Works
•Held a bicycle rodeo for kids at the Police HQ

Traffic Division 2018-2020 Recap
•Added 2 School Crossing Guards
•Received $222,000 in OTS grant money for enforcement purposes
•Purchased & utilized decibel readers to enforce Loud Exhaust within the city
•Increased signage around the city for education along Blvd & in the Village
•Worked Special Events, Protests, DUI Checkpoints, attended children’s b-day parties, etc., while maintaining enforcement within the city
