Approval of Minutes Recommendation: Approve the minutes of the Feb. 9 and March 9, 2021, Subcommittee meetings. Item 2. State Legislative Reports Recommendation: Receive updates from representatives of State Senator Patricia Bates's and State Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath's offices, and provide feedback. Item 3. Legislative Update and Advocacy Report Recommendation: Receive an update on state and federal legislative and budget activity and recent and ongoing advocacy efforts, and provide feedback to staff. Discuss and determine the Subcommittee's recommended advocacy positions on high priority bills. Item 4. August 10, 2021 — Legislative Subcommittee Meeting Recommendation: Provide direction to staff regarding the August 10, 2021, Legislative Subcommittee meeting, which is currently scheduled to occur during the Council recess. SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBER REQUESTS FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS ADJOURN NEXT REGULAR MEETING: Tuesday, May 11, 2021 @ 9:00 a.m. •Per State of California Executive Order N-29-20, and in the interest of public health and safety, we are temporarily taking actions to prevent and mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by holding public meetings electronically or by teleconferencing. •All public meetings will comply with public noticing requirements in the Brown Act and will be made accessible electronically to all members of the public seeking to observe and address the Legislative Subcommittee. •Legislative Subcommittee meetings can be watched via livestream on the city website at www.carlsbadca.gov. •You can participate in the meeting bye-mailing your comments to Jason.haberPcarlsbadca.aov prior to commencement of the agenda item. Your comment will be transmitted to the Legislative Subcommittee at the start of the agenda item. •If you desire to have your comment read into the record at the City Council meeting, please indicate so in the first line of your e-mail and limit your e-mail to 500 words or less. •These procedures shall remain in place during the period in which state or local health officials have imposed or recommended social distancing measures.
