Permits and Fees The Contractor shall obtain and pay for any and all, building permits as required B Manufacturer's Drrect,ons Manufacturer's directions and detailed draw,ngs shall be followed ,n all cases where the manufacturer of articles used furnishe,s directions covering points not shown ,n the dr;;iwings and notes. C. Ordinances and Regulations All local, municipal and state laws, rules and regulations governir1g or relating to any portion of irrigation work are hereby incorporated into and made a part of these notes, and their provIsIons shall be carried out by the Contractor. Anything contained In these notes shall not be construed to conflict with any of the above rules and regulations or requirements of the same. However, when these notes call for or describe materials, workmanship, or construction of a better quality, higher standard, or larger size than is required by the above rules and regulations, the provisions ot these notes shall take precedence D. Explanation of Drawings 1. Due to the scale of drawings, 11 is not possible to indicate all offsets, fittings, sleeves, etc , which may be required. The Contractor shall carefully investigate the structural and finished conditions affecting all of his work and plan his work accordingly. furnishings such as fittings, etc , as may be required to meet such conditions. Drawings are generally diagrammatic and indicative of the work to be installed The work shall be installed in such a manner as to avoid conflicts between irrigation systems, planting and architectural features. 2 The Contractor shall not willfully install the irrigation system as shown on the drawings when it Is obvious in the field that unknown obstructions, grade differences or discrepancies in area dimensions exist that might not have been considered in engineering. Such obstruction or ditterence should be brought to the attention of the Owner or Landscape Architect as soon as possible. In the event this notification Is not periormed, the Irrigation Contractor shall assume full respons1b1llty for any revision necessary SUBMITTALS A Material List 1 The Contractor shall furnish the articles, equipment, materials or processes specified by name in the drawings and notes No substitution will be allowed without prior written approval by Owner or Landscape Architect 2 Equipment or materials installed or furnished without prior approval of the Owner or Landscape Architect may be rejected and the Contractor required to remove such materials from the site at his own expense. 3 Manufacturer's warranties shall not relieve the Contractor ot his liability under the guaran1ee Such warranties shall only supplement the guarantee 8. Record and As-Built Drawings C The Contractor shall provide and keep up-to-date complete as-built drawings indicating locations, sizes, and kinds of equipment installed. Prints for this purpose may be obtained from the Landscape Architect at cost. This set of drawings shall be kept on the site and shall be used only as a record set As built drawings shall be prepared by the Contractor 2 These drawings shall also serve as work progress sheets, and the Contractor shall make neat and legible notations thereon daily as the work proceeds, showing the work as it is actually installed. These drawings shall be available at all times for review and shall be kept in a location designated by the Owner or Landscape Architect 3 Before the date ot the final observation, the Contractor shall transfer all information from the 'as-built' prints to an ozalid sepia mylar, procured from the Landscape Architect All worll shall be neat, in ink and subject to approval of the Owner. 4. The Contractor shall dimension from two permanent points of reference, building corners, sidewalk or road intersections, etc., the location of the following items: a. Connection to existing water lines. b. Connection to existing electrical power. c. Gate valves. d. Routing of sprinkler pressure lines (dimension max t 00 feet along routing). e. Sprinkler control valves. f. Routing of control wiring. g. Quick coupling valves. h. Other related equipment as directed by Owner. 5. On or before the date of the final approval, the Contractor shall deliver one set of sepia mylars of ·as-built' plans to the Owner Delivery of the sepias will not relieve the Contractor of the responsibility of furnishing required information that my be omitted from the prints Controller Charts 1. 'As-built' drawings shall be prepared by the Contractor and drawings shall be approved by the Owner before the controller chans are prepared. 2. Provide one controller chart for each controller supplied. 3. The chart shall show the area controlled by the automatic controller and shall be the maximum ~l·e which the controller donr '"'/allow. D 4 The chart is to be a reduced drawing of the aetudl 'as•bullt system. However, in the event the controller sequence is not legible when the drawing is reduced, 'it shall be enlarged to a size that will be readable wher reduced. 5 The chart shall be a blackline or blueline ozalid print and a different color shall be used to indicate the area of coverage for each station 6 When completed and approved, the chart shall be hermetically sealed between two pieces of plastic, each piece being a minimum of 1 O mil thick. 7 These charts shall be completed and approved prior to final field observation of the irrigation system Operation and Maintenance Manuals Prepare and deliver to the Owner within ten calendar Clays prior to completion of construction, two hard cover binders with three rings containing the following information· a. Index sheet stating Contractors address and telephone number, list of equipment with names and addresses of local manuf actu rer'S' representatives b. Where a ditching machine is run close to trees having roots smaller than 2" in diameter, the wall of the trench adjacent to the tree shall be hand trimmed, making clean cuts through. The slurry distribution lines shall be large enough to prevent stoppage and shall be equipped with a set of hydraulic spray nozzles which shall place the slurry tank and spray nozzle within sufficient prox1m1ty to be seeded. 2. Preparation: The slurry preparation shall take place at the site of work and shall begin by adding water to the tank when the engine rs at halt throttle. When the water level has reached the heights of me agitator shaft, good circulation shall be established and at this time, the seed shall be added. The soil preparation specified below shall be adjusted accordingly to the analysis PLANTING PREPARATION I. SLOPE TEXTURING A. Cut Slopes: These surfaces shall be roughened in a horizontal direction following the contour of the slope. The roughened texture shall be made by hand raking or similar mechanical means B. Fill Slopes; These surfaces shall be compacted and finished and also roughened in a horizon1a1 direction following the contour of the slope, The roughened texture shall be made by hand raking or similar mechanical means. II WEED ERADICATION PROCEDURES A. Manually remove all existing vegetation and dispose of it off-s,te. B. Fertilize all planting areas with fertilizer based on Soil Labs recommendations. (See Planting Detail Sheet). Add any and all soil amendments as required, per the soil analysis. Begin watering process 10 activate fertilizer and additive chemicals. C. Water all planting areas thoroughly and continuously for a penod of two (2) consecutive weeks The Landscape Architect shall approve specific watering duration and frequency program designed to germinate all residual weed seeds.. D. E. Discontinue watering process for two (2) days then apply 'Round-Up' if perennial weeds appear on the slopes. If annual weeds appear, use straight contact herbicide as per the pest control advisor's recommendations, No water shall be applied for a minimum of four (4) days following application of contact weed killer. Allow sufficient period of time to insure that all weeds are dead, Ill F Water all planting areas thoroughly and continuously for a period ot three (3) weeks. A shorter watering period may be permissible at the discretion of the Landscape Architect and/or the pest control advisor. Discontinue the watering process for one (1) day prior to the second application of the herbicide spraying. Re-apply the spraying operation with a straight conlact weed killer, as per the pest control advisor's recommendations. Repair all eroded surfaces at no cost to the Owner. E. Damage to any planted area shall be repaired immediately. Depressions caused by vehicles or loot trattic shall be filled with topsoil, leveled and replanted. Exterminate gophers, moles and repair damage. F. The project shall be so ca_red for that a neat clean condition will be presented at all times to the satisfaction of the Owner and Landscape Architect. The landscape contractor shall be expected to make a minimum of one weekly visit for maintenance purposes.
