Recommended Action
That the City Council engage in a discussion regarding the article “The Cure for Racism is
Cancer” by Tony Hoagland (Exhibit 1).
Executive Summary/Discussion
At the City Council Workshop held May 6, 2021, facilitator Ellie Krug suggested that the City
Council follow up the training with a discussion regarding the article by Tony Hoagland entitled
“The Cure for Racism is Cancer” at an upcoming City Council meeting. This item is intended to
allow for that discussion.
Fiscal Analysis
None.
Environmental Evaluation
This action does not constitute a project within the meaning of the California Environmental
Quality Act under California Public Resources Code Section 21065 in that it has no potential to
cause either a direct physical change in the environment or a reasonably foreseeable indirect
physical change in the environment. Therefore, it does not require environmental review.
Public Notification
Public notice of this item was posted in keeping with the Ralph M. Brown Act and it was
available for public viewing and review at least 72 hours before the scheduled meeting date.
