2. GRADING PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
The conditions that require a grading permit are found in Section 11.06.030 of the Municipal
Code.
Inadequate information available on site plan to make a determination on grading
requirements. Include accurate grading quantities in cubic yards (cut, fill, import, export and

To Whom It May Concern:
We have reviewed the retaining walls for this project and stamped and
signed them accordingly
As noted on the details and wall schedules, the footing parameters change
from one retained height to the next. When the changing retained heights do
occur on this project it is acceptable to taper the footing width and key size
accordingly from one indicated size to the next. At the contractor discretion he
can go directly from one size to the next without tapering, but he would have to
use the bigger footing and key size until he actually gets to the lower retained
height and have bent bars to tie the footings together accordingly.
With the methods described above, expansion joints are not necessary in the
walls or footings. If there is a straight section of wall that is greater than 200 feet
long then an expansion joint should be used in the wall only, not the footing.
Control joints should be utilized per the stamped drawings.
