Enforcement efforts are directed at the seawall and downtown areas. E-Bike enforcement/education will be a priority •The Traffic Division will continue to enforce all traffic laws as it relates to bicycle enforcement •We have receiving several complaints near schools mainly in the mornings. Motor Officers have been asked to extra patrol school zones in the morning hours 2 OTS DUI Checkpoint •March 23rd DUI checkpoint located at Beech Street and Carlsbad Boulevard was cancelled due to a George Floyd Protest at Magee Park. The DUI checkpoint will be re-scheduled for June. 3 OTS Grant Campaigns/Details •DUI Saturation (April 9th) •Work Zone enforcement (April 26-30th) •Distracted Driving Month –27 stops –11 citations –16 warning citations 4 Serious Injury Collision on 4/11/21 •Officers were called to El Camino Real and Costa Del Mar for vehicle vs. motorcycle collision •Officers located a male lying on the ground next to a motorcycle with a compound fracture to the leg as a result of the collision •The female driver of the vehicle was contacted at the scene uninjured and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol •The motorcycle was headed north bound of El Camino Real approaching the intersection with Costa Del Mar on a green light •The vehicle turned from south bound El Camino Real to east bound Costa Del Mar in front of the motorcycle on a red light •The motorcycle collided with the vehicle •The driver of the vehicle was arrested for DUI alcohol 5
