City Manager's Recommendation: Adopt the resolution.
Parks & Recreation Director Kyle Lancaster presented the report and reviewed a PowerPoint

In response to an inquiry from Council Member Schumacher, Parks & Recreation Director
Lancaster explained that staff originally did not consider removing the stump of the tree and
repurposing it to become something else such as a bench. He also added that due to the size
of the tree stump it would be difficult to remove it in one piece.
In response to an inquiry from Council Member Schumacher, Parks & Recreation Director
Lancaster explained that staff would need additional direction from the City Council if they
were to want the tree stump to become an art piece. He added that there would likely be an
additional cost to the project and that staff could see if a large chunk of the tree could be
removed or if pieces of the tree could be saved to repurpose it as an art piece.
The following individuals called into the City Council Meeting and voiced their comments for
the record:

In response to an inquiry from Mayor Hall, Parks & Recreation Director Lancaster explained
that the rest of the wood that was cut down with the tree was sent to two different mills and
repurposed.
