Subject: Establish a Schedule for the Traffic and Mobility Commission to Return
to In-Person Meetings
Recommended Action Approve a date and time for a return to in-person meetings.
Discussion
Since spring 2020, the Traffic and Mobility Commission (T&MC) has held its monthly meetings
in virtual format based on Executive Order N-29-20. This order authorized local legislative
bodies, such as the T&MC, to meet virtually to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. However, on
June 11, 20211, the Governor ordered that virtual meetings were not authorized after
September 30, 2021.
On June 22, 2021, the City Council decided that the Council will return to in-person meetings at
6 p.m. on July 13, 2021 with Workshops continuing virtually until September 30, 2021. In
response, the City Clerk has requested that all boards and commissions place this matter on
their respective agendas to consider how quickly to return to in-person meetings.
If desired to return to in-person meetings immediately, the T&MC would return to the council
chambers at the next scheduled meeting on August 2, 2021. Alternatively, the T&MC could
return to the council chambers in September. However, in-person meetings must resume in
October. The T&MC will also need to consider the commission’s scheduled start time which was
revised from 5 p.m. to 3 p.m. once Executive Order N-29-20 became effective.
Next Steps
The Traffic and Mobility Commission will return to in-person meetings at the council chambers
based on the approved date and time.
