Based on a review of the site plan prepared by Karnak Planning and Design the proposed Verdura 40 sound wall will be constructed along the west and a portion of the south perimeter of the subject site. Based on the plans provided for our review, it is our understanding that the proposed Verdura 40 sound wall will have a maximum exposed height of 8 feet. These plans indicate that the wall will taper down to zero height on the north end of the western perimeter wall, and the wall along the southern perimeter will terminate vertically against a new masonry wall. The proposed sound wall will be constructed with geosynthetic reinforcement consisting of the Posi-Dura connection and Mirafi HS667 geosynthetic. The Mirafi HS667 reinforcement will be placed at three block vertical intervals, and will be a continuous alternating reinforcement in plan view. The Mirafi HS667 geosynthetic should be placed between masonry units at the vertical interface to provide a connection between the sound wall and the masonry wall. Fill soils to be placed within and behind the Verdura 40 blocks should be compacted to at least 90 percent of ASTM 1557 maximum dry density, should possess an internal angle of friction of at least 30 degrees, and a unit weight of at least 120 pcf.
