READ, UNDERSTAND, AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS OF ALL COMPONENT MANUALS AND WARNINGS BEFORE USE. 3. FOLLOW ALL CURRENT REQUIREMENTS OF ANSI Z359 (OR CSA Z259 IN CANADA). 4. THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS DO NOT PREEMPT ANY CURRENT OSHA, CANADIAN, OR ANSI Z359 FALL PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS. 5. ALWAYS PERFORM A HAZARD ANALYSIS BEFORE USE THAT WILL IDENTIFY IMPACT HAZARDS, SWING HAZARDS, OR ANY OTHER HAZARDS THAT MAY EXIST. ADDRESS AND CORRECT ALL HAZARDS BEFORE USE. 6. INSPECT SYSTEM BEFORE USE: CHECK FOR BENT, BROKEN, CRACKED, OR MISSING COMPONENTS. 7. INSPECT THOROUGHLY BY COMPETENT PERSON AFTER EACH FALL. 8. INSPECT ANNUALLY BY COMPETENT PERSON. 9. NEVER LOAD TRACK AT AN ANGLE GREATER THAN SPECIFIED IN THE SYSTEM 'S USER MANUAL. 10. NEVER USE WITH SCAFFOLDING. 11. NEVER USE SYSTEM WITH THE ATTACHMENT POINT BELOW THE D-RING OF THE HARNESS. 12. ALWAYS HAVE A WRITTEN RESCUE PLAN THAT DEFINES WHO WILL RESCUE A FALLEN WORKER AND WHAT EQUIPMENT WILL BE USED. 13. ALWAYS USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM WHEN USING FALL PROTECTION (THE MONITOR, OR "BUDDY," DOES NOT NEED TO BE PHYSICALLY ON THE SYSTEM, JUST NEARBY SUPERVISING). NEVER USE SYSTEM ALONE, WITHOUT A MONITOR. 14. CONSULT WITH A QUALIFIED PERSON FOR MINIMUM FITNESS REQUIREMENTS FOR WORKERS AND OPTIMUM RESCUE RESPONSE TIME. 15. DETERMINATION OF MINIMUM FITNESS LEVELS OF WORKERS PRIOR TO USE OF SYSTEM IS BY OTHERS. 16. ONLY THE FOLLOWING SELF-RETRACTING LANYARD (SRL) DESIGN IS ACCEPTABLE FOR USE ON RIGID LIFELINES FALL ARREST SYSTEMS: 1) 900 LB MAF 2) 4.5 FT PER SECOND LOCK UP SPEED 3) DISK OR DRUM BRAKING MECHANISM 4) WIRE ROPE SRL FOR OUTDOOR USE OR INDOOR USE 5) FABRIC LANYARD SRL FOR INDOOR USE ONLY 17. RIP-STITCH PACKS, SHOCK PACKS, OR STRETCHABLE ENERGY ABSORBERS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. 18. CHOOSE THE SHORTEST LENGTH SELF-RETRACTING LANYARD (SRL) AVAILABLE THAT WILL ALLOW THE WORKER TO PERFORM HIS/HER JOB FUNCTION. THIS WILL REDUCE TOTAL FALL DISTANCE & THEREBY LIMIT ANY POSSIBLE INJURY DURING A FALL. SHORT CABLE LENGTHS WILL REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF "CABLE CINCHING" ON THE INTERNAL SRL PULLEY, THEREBY REDUCING FALL DISTANCE. FOR EXAMPLE, 50 FEET OF LANYARD STRAP WRAPPED AROUND A PULLEY WILL PAY OUT MORE THAN A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT BEFORE THE STRAPPING BECOMES TIGHT ENOUGH TO RESIST THE LOAD. FABRIC LANYARDS ALSO STRETCH UNDER LOAD. THE LONGER THE LANYARD, THE LONGER THE STRETCH. 19. ONLY AN ANSI (OR CSA IN CANADA) FULL BODY FALL ARREST HARNESS IS ACCEPTABLE FOR USE ON RIGID LIFELINES SYSTEMS. 20. NEVER USE BODY BELTS ON RIGID LIFELINES FALL ARREST SYSTEMS. 21. NEVER ADD ADDITIONAL CARABINERS, D-RINGS, SHACKLES, OR CONNECTING HARDWARE TO THIS SYSTEM. 22. IF CONNECTING HARDWARE MUST BE ADDED, SELECTION AND COMPATIBILITY MUST BE VERIFIED BY A COMPETENT PERSON. ONLY USE ANSI Z359.12 CONNECTORS (OR CSA Z259 IN CANADA) WITH A MINIMUM 3600 LB GATE STRENGTH. 23. ON SYSTEMS WITH ROLLING BRIDGES, POSITION BRIDGE DIRECTLY OVERHEAD OF WORKER(S) AT ALL TIMES. 24. IF A JIB BOOM IS PROVIDED, NEVER APPLY A LATERAL LOAD AT THE BOOM TIP. 25. ON SYSTEMS WITH ROLLING BRIDGES OR ROTATING BOOMS, POSITION TROLLEY DIRECTLY OVERHEAD OF WORKER(S) AT ALL TIMES. 26. WIND EXPOSURE- THE SYSTEM MUST BE TIED DOWN FOR WINDS IN EXCESS OF 20 MPH. NEVER OPERATE OR STORE A SYSTEM IN CONDITIONS WHERE WIND WILL RESULT IN UNSAFE OPERATION OR SYSTEM DAMAGE. 27. ELECTRICAL EXPOSURE- NEVER USE OR ACCESS A SYSTEM AROUND LIVE ELECTRICAL POWER LINES. NEVER USE METALLIC CABLES OR METALLIC SRL LANYARDS AROUND ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCES. 28. DO NOT LIFT ASSEMBLED FALL ARREST SYSTEMS. 29. PER OSHA & ANSI (OR CSA Z259 IN CANADA), DESIGNATE A COMPETENT PERSON WHO CAN FULFILL OBLIGATIONS OF THE REGULATIONS. 30. NEVER DEVIATE FROM THE ABOVE UNLESS YOU HAVE WRITTEN PERMISSION & AUTHORIZATION FROM RIGID LIFELINES. Page 1 of 2 APPLICATION AND ASSEMBLY NOTES: VER. 4.0 1. WHEN CONNECTING TRACK SECTIONS, TRACK SPLICE AND TRUSS SPLICE PLATES ARE REQUIRED. SPLICE JOINT CENTERS MUST BE WITHIN 48 INCHES, AND WITHIN 12" FOR PLAIN TRACK, OF HANGER SUPPORT CENTERS FOR TRUSSES UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED. 2. SYSTEMS WITH FLUSH CLAMP HANGERS DO NOT REQUIRE SWAY BRACING, BUT ALL CEILING MOUNTED OR HANGING SYSTEMS MUST BE LATERALLY AND LONGITUDINALLY BRACED. BRACING FURNISHED BY OTHERS. 3. DRIVE SYSTEMS, IF SUPPLIED- ALL DRIVE SYSTEMS ARE CHAIN DRIVEN AND AS A RESULT WILL EXPERIENCE SOME BACKLASH IN THE DRIVE ASSEMBLY. THIS CAN BE REDUCED BY TIGHTENING THE DRIVE CHAIN, BUT CAN NEVER BE ELIMINATED. SLIGHT DRIFTING OF THE SYSTEM IS NORMAL DURING DECELERATION OR UNDER WINDY CONDITIONS. 4. TROUBLESHOOTING- READ AND UNDERSTAND THE MANUAL PROVIDED WITH YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE BEGINNING ANY INSTALLATION. FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. FOR DRIVE SYSTEMS, PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO TORQUE LIMITER, IF PROVIDED, ADJUSTMENT. MOST DRIVE ISSUES ARE THE RESULT OF IMPROPER TORQUE LIMITER ADJUSTMENT OR IMPROPER INSTALLATION. 5. ENVIRONMENT- ALTHOUGH COMPONENTS MAY BE SUPPLIED THAT ARE INTENDED FOR SERVICE IN A SPECIFIC ENVIRONMENT (IF PURCHASED), IT IS THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CONFIRM THAT THE PROVIDED SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS WILL WORK IN AND ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR THEIR SPECIFIC APPLICATION AND ENVIRONMENT. 6. IF THE SAME FALL ARREST SYSTEM WILL BE USED TO RECOVER A FALLEN WORKER. A MINIMUM OF A TWO MAN SYSTEM MUST BE SPECIFIED. 7. BRACING OF FLOOR MOUNTED SYSTEM IS NOT REQUIRED FOR NON-SEISMIC APPLICATIONS. HOWEVER, IF ANY SWAY IS PERCEIVED AS UNDESIRABLE, LATERAL BRACING CAN BE ADDED BY OTHERS.TO ACHIEVE DESIRED RIGIDITY FOR AN APPLICATION, RIGID LIFELINES RECOMMENDS CONSULTING A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER IN YOUR AREA TO SATISFY ALL CODES AND ORDINANCES. 8. FOR FLOOR MOUNTED SYSTEMS, CHEMICAL ANCHOR BOLTS ARE REQUIRED. APPROX. 7000 LB PULL OUT FORCE REQUIRED (BY OTHERS). MORE ACCURATE PULL FORCES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. 9. ENGINEERING OF ANY ATTACHMENT POINTS IS BY OTHERS. 10. DIMENSIONS SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE. ALL LITERATURE DIMENSIONS ARE DEVELOPED USING STANDARD COMPONENTS FOR THE SPANS AND CAPACITIES REQUIRED.
