This remedy is to be used only in areas where there is evidence of failed slope.
It is a simple device designed to have no structural value, but rather to slow
down runoff to below erosive velocities, and to provide sufficient stable soil for
new plant establishment.

SOILS0 TEST
All backfill shall be In accordance with City approved soil last (Section IVC.3-2.1
City of Carlsbad landscape Manual). Soil Tests completed by Butler's Mill, Inc.
on 02-04-93. A copy of the test is on file with the City of Carlsbad planning department
Recommendations:
Groundcovers-no recommendation for amendments on the slope, since
rototilling or other mixing methods will be detrimental to the integrity of the
slope. Soil quality and pH is in a sufficient range to assure acceptable plant
growth.
Trees and Shrubs-FERTI-PILLS #1 or AGRIFORM 21 gram tablets at the rate
noted on the label. Add 1 handful! of DRY WATER-IN or 1 oz. $ARVON and
one capfull of SUPERTHRIVE hormone per plant. For pit backfill, use ten(10)
pounds of GYPSUM, six (6) cubic feet of LOAM EX, ten (1 O) pounds of
MILORGANITE and one (I) pound of SOILMOIST per yard of backfill,
STANDARDS
Standards per IVE.3-1.2.1-C (City of Carlsbad Landscape Manual)
a. Standard #1 -COVER CROP/JUTE MESH
Cover crop shall be a saed mix typically made up of quick
germinating and fast covering grasses, clovers, and/or
wildflowers. Submit the specific seed mix for City
approval prior to application. The cover crop shall be
applied at a rate and manner sufficient to provide 90%
coverage within thirty (30) days.
b. Standard #2 -GROUND COVER
One hundred (100%) percent of the area shall be planted
with a ground cover known to have excellent soil binding
characteristics (planted from a minimum size of flatted
material and spaced to provide full coverage within one
year).
c. Standard #3 -LOW SHRUBS
Low spreading woody shrubs (planted from a minimum
of 2 3/4 inch liners) shall cover a minimum of seventy
(70%) of the slope face (at mature size),
d. Standard #4 -TREES AND LARGE SHRUBS
Trees and/or large shrubs shall be (planted from a
minimum of 1 gallon containers) at a minimum rate of
one (1) plant per two hundred (200) square feet.
Areas to be hydroseeded shall fill! be tilled/disked. Native surface is not to be
disturbed other than planting pit due to the steepness of slope, length of vertical
rise and overall exposed face of working area.
