The irrigation plan is drawn diagrammatically. Locate all piping and
equipment in planting areas where possible. po NOT locate pressure
pipe in R.O.W ..
All lateral endruns shall be 1/2" dia. size unless shown otherwise_
-
All remote control valves shall be installed in valve boxes. one valve per
box. Locate all remote control and quick coupling valves adjacent to
walks or curbs. Manifold Rcv·s where possible.
Irrigation lines that run under paving shall be installed in ~leeves 2 sizes
larger than pipe siz<:3 shown;. PVC Sch 80 (vehicular pavi,ng) and _PVC Sch
40 (pedestrian paving). Minimum pipe cover shall be_ 36 below finish
grade/surface. Use separate sleeves for controller wires .
Geot[ow tnplpe Drip Line
a. The lnpipe Drip Line has turbulent flow emitters inside 0.630" OD
tubing. The pipe has no joints which may pull apart during
installation and is ideal for tractor back mounted burying machines
or hand burying. Flaw rate shall be 1.0 GPH spaced 12" between
emitters.
b. Geoflow has an exclusive license for "Rootguard@". a method to
protect emitters from root intrusion. Hence. Geoflow can use
turbulent flow "in line" emitters with large flow paths. Because of
the resistance to blocking, it is more reliable and dependable than
other drip systems.
Under normal conditions, pressure in the drip lines should not
exceed 20 to 25 psi.
d. A 150 mesh filter is required.
e. Fertilizing shall be done by a venturi principle fertilizer injector. see
detail shegt for the fertilizer injector bypass detail.
f. The syst(>JTI shall be buried below the normal cultivation depth to
avoid daNaging the drip line. Drip lines shall be spaced 24"
between lines, with 12" between emitters, placed at a depth of a• to
12". Hand sprinkling may be required to start off the plants after
transplanting while the roots grow.
g. Maximum length of run for In-Pipe Drip Tubing spaced at 12" with a
1.0 GPH flow rate is 130 ft.
h. Warning: Rootguard@ is temperature sensitive and must be
stored in a cool place.
i. Allow not more than 6 to 8 inches between the edges of the
planting areas and installation of the first drip line.
j. For further installation information, refer to the Geoflow Subsurtaca
Irrigation Design and Installation Manual, most recent addition ..
Install ( 1) W.C.S. "Rain-Guard" rain shut-off device per controller per
manufacturer's recommendations.
It is the City's intent that the future source of water for irrigation will be
reclaimed water. All equipment shall be compatible with reclaimed
water. All work with reclaimed water shall comply with Carlsbad
Reclamation Rules and Regulations for Construction of Reclaimed Water
Mains (June 1991 ), as well as the City of Carlsbad Landscape Manual.
Particular care shall be taken to assure that all equipment in the
reclaimed water system shall be well marked with all the warning devices
required by the City. "Alertline" pipe (or equal) shall be installed.
If any existing hardscape or landscape indicated on the approved plans
is damaged or removed during demolition or construction, it shaH be
repaired and/or replaced in kind and equivalent size per the approved
plans.
All work shall comply with the City of Carlsbad "Landscape Manual -
Policies and Requirements", adopted by the City Council on November
13. t 990, and all other applicable standards as of the approved date of
these plans.
