ALL \/',ORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICTS "CARLSBAD RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RECLAIMED WATER MAINS" DATED OCTOBER 1993. 2. DRINKING FOUNTAINS SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM SPRAY OF RECLAIMED WATER BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES SHALL BE USED TO MINIMIZE RE RECLAIMED WATER ENCROACHMENT ON PUBLIC FACILITIES SUCH AS PICNIC TABLES, BBQ'S, PLAYGROUNDS, SAND TOT LOTS, ETC 3. BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES SHALL BE USED TO ELIMINATE OR CONTROL TO THE BEST EXTENT POSSIBLE. PONDING, RUN-OFF, OVEASPAAY AND MISTING. 4 HOSE BIBS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. 5_ ON SITE CR088-CONNECTIONS BETWEEN RECLAIMED WATER LINES ANO POTABLE WATER LINES ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. 6. NO SUBSTITUTION OF PIPE MATERIALS WILL BE ALLOWED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL OF THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT. 7. ALL MAINLINE PIPES SHALL HAVE WARNING TAPE PER CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICTS RULES AND REGULATIONS. * 8. THE IRRIGATION SYSTEMS SHALL BE RUN BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10:00 PM ANO 6:00 AM THE FOLLOWING MORNING (SPOT IRRIGATION COULD BE DONE AT A DIFFERENT TIME WITH QUALIFIED SUPERVISION PERSONNEL ON SITE.) 9_ PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF AT LEAST 18 INCHES OF COVER OVER ALL WIRING AND PIPING. 10. NON-DESIGNATED USE AREAS SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM CONTACT WITH RECLAIMED WATER WHETHER BY WINDBLOWN SPRAY OR DIRECT APPLICATION THROUGH IRRIGATION OR OTHER USE. LACK OF PROTECTION, WHETHER BY DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION PRACTICE, OR SYSTEM OPERATION 18 STRICTLY PROHIBITED. 11. IRRIGATION HEADS SHALL BE RELOCATED OR ADJUSTED TO PREVENT OVERSPRAYING ON SIDEWALKS, STREETS AND NON-DESIGNATED USE AREAS. 12. RECLAIMED WATER QUICK COUPLING VALVES SHALL BE OF A TYPE DESIGNED FOR THE USE ON RECLAIMED WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS, (SPIKES NOT EXCHANGEABLE WITHPOTABLE WATER QUICK-COUPLER SPIKES), PER CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT'S RULES AND REGULATIONS 13. METER SHALL BE SIZED BY THE CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT. 14 ALL IRRIGATION PIPES SHALL BE STENCILED WITH THE WARNING "NON POTABLE WATER" OR "RECLAIMED WATER", COLOR CODED (PURPLE) AND LAID WITH WARNING TAPE AND STENCILING ORIENTED TOWARD THE TOP OF THE TRENCH PER CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT'S RULES AND REGULATIONS. 15. ALL POTABLE AND RECLAIMED WATER PIPES SHALL BE INSTALLED WrTH THE STENCILING ORIENTED TOWARDS THE TOP OF THE TRENCH. 16. WHEN A POTABLE WATER LINE AND RECLAIMED WATER LINE CROSS, THE RECLAIMED LINE SHALL BE INSTALLED WITHIN A PROTECTIVE SLEEVE. THE SLEEVE SHALL EXTEND 1 O FEET FROM EACH SIDE, FROM THE CENTER LINE OF POTABLE LINE, FOR A TOTAL OF 10 FEET 17. A 10 FOOT HORIZONTAL SEPARATION BETWEEN POTABLE WATER ANO RECLAIMED WATER MAINS MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. 1B. A MINIMUM OF 12 INCHES OF VERTICAL SEPARATION BETWEEN * UTILrTIES MUST BE MAINTAINED AT ALL TIMES. 19. DEVELOPER/CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT A CROSS CONNECTION TEST AND COVERAGE TEST AS DIRECTED BY CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL WATER DISTRICT AND/OR THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRIOR TO ANY USE OF RECLAIMED WATER. 20. QUICK COUPLING VALVES USED IN RECLAIMED WATER SYSTEMS SHALL CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING: RECLAIMED WATER: QUICK COUPLING VALVES USED IN RECLAIMED WATER SYSTEMS SHALL HAVE ACME TYPE THREADS (SPIKES NOT INTERCHANGEABLE WITH POTABLE WATER QUICK COUPLER SPIKES) AND PURPLE COLORED LOCKING COVERS PERMANENTLY ATTACHED TO THE VALVE QUICK COUPLING VALVES SHALL BE NELSON NO 76-45, HUNTER NO. Electrically Onerated Gates A. The design and operation of all electrically operated gates shall be in accordance with the fellowing criteria: 1 . The gate control shall be operable by an approved emergency overnde key switch which is an integral pa~ of the mechanism. In the event of a power tailure, the gate shall be automatically transferred to a fail-safe mode allowing the gate to be pushed open without the use of special knowledge or any equipment. 2. The key switch shall be labeled with a permanent red sign with not less than 1 /2" conirasMg letters reading "Fl Rf DEPT." or a "Knox" decal. 3. A transmitter operated gate shall have a key switch on the right side ot the gated opening approximately 48" above the roadway surface. It shall be visible and easily accessible wilh a label as specified above. 4. Upon activation of the key switch, the gate shall remain open until returned to normal operation by means of the key switch. 5. In the event of a conflict between such lines and plant loc::uions, promptly notify the Landscape Architect (L.A.) who shall arrange for relocation for one or the other. Failure to follow this procedure places upon Contractor the responsibility for, al his own expense, making any and all repairs for damages: resulting from work hereunder. 3. QUANTITIES AND TYPES Plant materials shall be furnished in the quantities and/or spacing as shown or noted on the plans.
