ment that he Is licensed pursuant to the provi-
sions of the Contractor's License Law (Chapter 9
commencing with Section 7000 ol Division 3 of
the Business and Professions Code) or that is ex-
empt therefrom and the basis for the alleged ex-
emption. Any violation of Section 7031.5 by an ap-
plicant for a permit subjects the applicant to a
civil penalty of not more than five hundred dollars

Dear Robert:
The Planning Department has reviewed the building plans regarding
your 6-foot side yard setback from the building foundation to the
property line. The field inspector has noted that the actual
distance is 5'6", which is 6-inches less than that approved.
Since no hazard would result from this 6-inch reduction in the
setback, our office has recommended that the field inspector ac-
cept the 5 1 6" setback. Additionally, we feel that the expense
and trouble the owner would go through to increase the setback to
6 feet is not warranted in this case.
