• PLANS
1. Please make all corrections, as requested in the correction list. Submit FOUR new
complete sets of plans for commercial/industrial projects (THREE sets of plans for
residential projects). For expeditious processing, corrected sets can be submitted
in one of two ways:
1. Deliver all corrected sets of pl,.11s and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department, 1635 Faraday Ave., Carlsbad, CA 92008, (760)
602-2700. The City will route the plans to EsGil Corporation and the Carlsbad
Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments.
2. Bring TWO corrected set of plans and calculations/reports to EsGil Corporation,
9320 Chesapeake Drive, Suite 208, San Diego, CA 92123, (858) 560-1468.
Deliver all remaining sets of plans and calculations/reports directly to the City of
Carlsbad Building Department for routing to their Planning, Engineering and Fire
Departments.
NOTE: Plans that are submitted directly to EsGil Corporation only will not be
reviewed by the City Planning, Engineering and Fire Departments until review by
EsGil Corporation is complete.
2. Please indicate on the plans whether the existing residence has a fire sprinkler
system installed. If so, then provide a note stating that any additions/alterations
will be provided with an automafc residential fire sprinkler system. Section
R313.2.
3. Show locations of existing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms on the
plans, per Section R314/R315:

4. Specify on the plans that any existing smoke alarms that are more than 10
years old will be replaced. Section R314.3.2.
5. No gas piping shall be installed in or on the ground under any building or
structure unless installed/sleeve(. in gastight conduit, and all exposed gas piping
shall be kept at least 6" inches above grade or structure.
a) The conduit shall be of material approved for installation underground beneath
building and not less than Schedule 40 pipe. The interior diameter of the conduit
shall be not less than ½" larger than the outside diameter of the gas piping.
b) The conduit shall extend to a point at least 12" beyond any area where it is required
to be installed or to the outside wall of a building, and the outer ends shall not be
sealed. Where the conduit terminates within a building, it shall be readily accessible
and the space between the conduit and the gas piping shall be sealed to prevent
leakage of gas.
c) Sleeving shall be arranged so that piping system can be removed and replaced.

6. All hot water piping sized ¾" or larger is required to be insulated as follows: 1"
pipe size or less: 1" thick insulation; larger pipe sizes require 1 ½" thick insulation.

• In the kitchen, at least one-half of the wattage rating of the fixtures must be
high efficacy.
8. Residential ventilation requirements:
• Kitchens require exhaust fans with a minimum 100 cfm ducted to the exterior.
Detail compliance by including a complying exhaust fan or a ducted range
hood to the exterior.
9. Show on the plan the amperage and the location of sub-panel. If the service is
over 200 amperes, submit a single line diagram, panel schedules, and provide
service load calculations.
10. Note on the plans that receptacle outlet locations will comply with CEC Article
210.52.
