CS-404 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CARLSBAD MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.44.030- CITY SERVICE Exhibit 1 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined the need to establish the position of full-time Emergency Medical Technician as unclassified, or "at will," and not subject to the regulations for positions in the classified service as specified in Carlsbad Municipal Code Chapter 2.44 -Personnel; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad has determined the need to update Section 2.44.030 of the Carlsbad Municipal Code to reflect all positions that are currently unclassified. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carlsbad, California, does ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 2. follows: The above recitations are true and correct. Carlsbad Municipal Code Section 2.44.030 -City service is amended to read as 2.44.030 City service. The provisions of this chapter will apply to all offices, positions and employees in the service of the city, except: A: Elective officers; B. Members of appointive boards, commissions and committees; C. Persons engaged under contract to supply expert, professional or technical services for a definite period of t ime; D. Volunteer personnel who receive no regular compensation from the city; E. City manager; F. City attorney; G. All positions listed on the management salary range schedule; H. All positions listed on the part-time salary range schedule; I. All positions listed on the non-management unclassified salary range schedule; J. Emergency employees who are hired to meet the immediate requirements of any emergency condition, such as extraordinaryfire, flood or earthquake which threatens life or property; K. Hourly employees, other than those listed elsewhere in tliis section, who are expected to or do work less than 1,000 hours in any one fiscal year;and L. Temporary positions which are authorized by the City Council and are of limited duration. EFFECTIVE DATE: This ordinance shall be effective thirty days after its adoption; and the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause the full text of the ordinance or a summary of the ordinance prepared by the City Attorney to be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Carlsbad within fifteen days after its adoption.
