HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-10-04; Traffic and Mobility Commission; ; POLICE REPORTMonthly Police Report Oct. 4, 2021 Sergeant Scott Meritt OTS Grant Campaigns/Details •Know Your Limits Educational Campaign September 6th •DUI Checkpoint Carlsbad Blvd. at Beech Ave. September 17th •Operation Clear Track September 21st 2 DUI Checkpoint Friday 9/17 3 Carlsbad Blvd/Beech Ave 628 Vehicles passed through the checkpoint 6 DUI Arrests 3 vehicle code violation citations Know Your Limit Educational Campaign •Saturday Sept. 4, 2021 (Labor Day Weekend) •The “Know Your Limit” program is intended to inform the public on how little it takes to reach the legal limit for blood alcohol content (BAC), which is .08% in California •officers will invite volunteers to take a breathalyzer test to see if they can guess their BAC. Those participating are asked how many drinks they had and whether they believe they are safe to drive. Following the test, officers provide education on the impact of alcohol on one’s ability to drive, and the consequences of a DUI. •250 public contacts •150 breath test exposures •Overall interactions were very positive, and the breathalyzer results were surprising 4 Operation Clear Track •The goal of Operation Clear Track and Rail Safety Week is to raise awareness of the importance of making safe choices near railroad tracks and trains •Coordinated by Amtrack Police Department and Operation Lifesaver •3 CSO’s and 2 SVP’s passed out 300 informational pamphlets to motorists and pedestrians at the railroad tracks at Grand Avenue and Carlsbad Village Drive 5 Collision on Marron Rd @ El Salto Falls Rd •Sept. 19, @ 3:52 p.m. Case #21-06291 •At fault driver was travelling westbound Marron Rd in the eastbound portion of the round-a-bout. The driver who was struck was negotiating the round-a-bout from southbound El Salto Falls Rd to go eastbound on Marron Rd. •Minor injuries to at fault driver and their juvenile passenger. •Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. 6
