Uniscan addressable device compatibility includes (Joiscan photoelectric smoke and temperature addressable detectors. Uniscan sensors appear to the panel essentially as addressable detectors and that term is used for ADT-6008 documentation. Approximatel)' even four seconds, the smoke addressable detector transmits an output value based on their smoke chamber condition. The panel CPU internally maintains a cwTent value, peak value, and an average value for each addressable detector's output. Status is determined by companng the current value to its average value. Tracking this average value as a continuously shifting reference point filters out environmental factors that cause shills in sens iii vttV. Alarm Determination. Photoelectric detention sensitivity is 2.5%/ft obscuration. All detectors can be selected lbr a reduced sensitivity detection mode that satisfies Boston requirements. Addressable heat detectors provide a fixed temperature alarm at 1350 F (570 C) and may be individually selected to also provide rate-of-rise alarm of 15° F (8.3° C) per minute where applicable. L51'I([4-L1Th I ,fl ETfl ci 'i'i t' Status Monitoring. Uniscan operation provides the ability to automatically indicate when In addressable detector is dirty or excessively dim. The NFPA 72 (.Vaiiona/ Fire .11cjrm Code) requirement for a test of the sensitivity range of the addressable detectors is fulfilled by the Uniscan ability to maintain the sensitivity level of each addressable detector. Modular Addressable Detector/Base Combination, Modular Uniscan addressable detectors use the same base that allows different addressable detector types (photoelectric smoke, or heat) to he easdy interchanged to meet specific application requirements. This feature also allows intentional detector substitution during building construction. When conditions are temporarily dusty. instead at' covering the smoke detectors (causing them to be disabled), heat defector heads may be installed without reprogramming the control panel. Although the control panel will indicate an incorrect addressable detector type, the heat detector will operate at a default setting to provide heat detection for building protection at that location. For use with the ADT-6006/6008 control panels, the ADT-3501 NAC Extender is connected per the following: Two input NACs are used, one to provide strobe control, including strobe synchronization signals; the other to provide horn control; both are to be on steady (non-coded) Output NACs track input NAC operation Input NACs can support connected appliances (Two-Wire Horn/Strobe control signals are not supported for input control) NAC output selections: Output NACs are selectable for Two-Wire Horn./Strobe control to provides separate operation of horns and strobes on the same circuit When selected for Two-Wire Horn/Strobe control, horns can be either Temporal Coded or 60 Beats/mm March Time Coded, one code selection per extender (input NACs must be on continuous with Alarm) See compatible TEPG-US Special Application appliance list under specifications to the right; speaker/strobe appliances have separate inputs and require an audio source such as the ADT-6003 Voice Control Panel (see data sheet ADT6003-01) Class A operation of Two-Wire Horn/Strobe control requires Control Module T372-9802, mounted external to cabinet Power-up Self-Diagnostics. Upon power-up, the NAC Extender tests each module and performs earth fault diagnostics. Trouble conditions are indicated at the host control panel and are also displayed on diagnostic status LEDs in the NAC Extender. When controlled with conventional NAC inputs, common troubles are signaled by providing a polarized open circuit that disconnects the NAC wining from its end-of-line resistor but still allows a reversed polarity alarm to be received. Door Mounted Reference Label. The NAC Extender has a detailed programming and diagnostic label inside the front door that provides a quick reference for both installation and checkout. AC power status is indicated by a green LED that is on when AC is normal. During low AC (brownout) conditions or with no AC, the LED is off. Additional power and battery status is indicated by the general status LEDs. Four, general status yellow LEDs provide nine separate indications listed in priority of urgency. As a trouble is eliminated, any remaining trouble(s) will then be indicated until the NAC Extender is returned to normal operation. LED Status Indicators. Each NAC (standard and optional) has a dedicated yellow LED that: During supervision provides a slow flash to indicate a chort circuit condition and a fast flash to indicate an . open circuit During an alarm, the LED follows the NAC output (on steady or flashing with coded output) Two-wire Synchronized HomlStrobe Operation NOTE: For Two-Wire Horn/Strobe output NAC operation, (or separate audible and visible output NAC control), two (2) input NACs are required. NAC 1 is strobe control and operates as steady "on-until-reset "and NAC 2 is horn control and operates as steady "on-until-silenced." ADT-3201 Photoelectric Addressable Detector Mounted in Base Description Digital Communication of Analog detection. Uniscan analog addressable detectors provide an analog measurement that is digitally communicated to the host control panel using ADT addressable communications. At the control panel, the data is analyzed and an average value is determined and stored. Fach addressable detector's output is digitized and transmitted to the system tire alarm control panel every four seconds. Since Uniscan addressable detectors use the same base, different detector types can be easily interchanged to meet specific location requirements. This feature also allows intentional detector substitution during building construction. When conditions are temporarily dusty, instead of covering the smoke detectors (causing them to be disabled), heat detectors may be installed without reprogramming the control panel. Although the control panel will indicate an incorrect detector type, the heat detector will operate at a default sensitivity providing heat detection for building protection at that location. 17 5Trn111.1. Rate-of-rise temperature detection is individually selectable at the control panel for ISO F (8.3° C) per minute. Fixed temperature detection is independent of ate-of-rise detection and operates at 135° F (57.2° C). Sensitivity is monitored and selected at the fire alarm control panel. Standard sensitivity is 2.5% per tbot of obscuration. If required, the ADT-6008 tire alarm control panel can select all addressable smoke detectors to operate at 3.7% per foot of smoke obscuration. The addressable detector head design provides 360° smoke entry for optimum response to smoke from any direction. A built-in screen keeps insects from entering the smoke chamber. T371-04 Rev 1 11/2005 Strobe Application Selection Proper selection of visible notification is dependent on S occupancy, location, local codes, and proper applications of: the National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72), ANSI A 117.1; the appropriate model building code: BOCA, ICBO, or SBCCI; and the application guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). I Svnchrnnizod Stroh--; [Two-Wire Horn/Strobe Control Some applications desire the audible notification appliances to be capable of being silenced before the alarm condition is reset (on-until-silenced) while the visible notification appliances are kept activated until the alarm condition is reset (on-until-reset). Two-Wire Horn/Strobe operation mode provides this function using a single circuit (two-wire operation). Multiple Strobes. When multiple strobes and their reflections can be seen from one location, synchronized flashes reduce the probability of photo-sensitive reactions as well as the annoyance and possible distraction of random flashing.
