Application states stucco is being removed from existing walls. How will existing stucco shear walls be replaced? Response was that the existing stucco is to be replaced with stucco or plywood shear walls as called out on SD-2.0. SD-2.0 shows the shear schedule. The elevations appear to show that siding is to be used at all exterior shear walls. If all stucco is to be. replaced with plywood shear walls per A on the shear schedule, please note this on the plans. If not, the locations and lengths of the plywood shear panels replacing existing stucco shear panels must be shown on the plans. Provide a lateral calculation for wall at living /dining where fireplace is being added or show it meets the conventional construction provisions in section 2320. Calculations state existing stucco O.K. at this location, but existing stucco is being removed. In Seismic Zone 4, aspect ratios are limited to 2:1 for wood shear panels. Table 23-11-G. Due to a change in our personal economic situation, it's been necessary for us to scale back from our approved plan considerably. We are requesting a change to the extent listed in the Plan Check Revision Application. We believe the accompanying revised floor plans from our architect reflect these changes and the engineering required to accommodate them. In an effort to avoid redoing the whole plan at considerable cost, our architect has offered to accompany me to the Building Division to manually reflect the detailed omissions/revisions to the City's documentation. He has also given me permission (and is prepared to do so in writing) to make these modifications for him if this would be sufficient.
