Fire Engineering Division 5495 i Distributed Power Module The 5495 Distributed Power Module is the most powerful and cost- effective power supply available today. It delivers 6 amps of notification appliance circuit power and built-in synchronization for appliances from System Senso0,Gentex5, AMSECO, and Wheelock. The 5495's switch mode power supply design is up to 500/o more efficient than competitive linear mode power supplies. Also. ADA retrofits are easier and less expensive with the 5495 because it integrates into current systems without the costly investment in new components. The 5495 is a 6 amp notification power expander that provides its own AC power connection, battery charging circuit, and backup battery. The 5495 is the costeffective solution for powering notification appliances required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The 5495 has built-in ANSI cadence pattern, which can upgrade older control panels that lack cadence capability. CONNECTION TO LOCAL FIRE CONTROL The 5495 may be connected to a local fire control which utilizes Class A or Class B type notification circuits operating between 9 and 32 VDC. The control panel's notification circuit is connected to one of the inputs on the 5495. The control panel's notification circuit end-of-line resistor is also connected across two terminals on the 5495, which provides supervision between the 5495 and the fire control panel. Polarized audible and/or visual notification devices are then connected to the 5495 signal circuits using the 4.7k1 end-of-line resistors provided. Since the 5495 draws very little power from the control, it is possible to connect one 5495 to each notification circuit on the control panel and still provide full supervision of the notification circuits all the way back to the control panel. 5495 FEATURES & BENEFITS UL Listed for 6 amps of notification power Power supply's advanced switch mode design reduces damaging heat and manages power up to 50% more efficiently than other systems Dip switches allow for easy reconfiguration 24 VDC filtered output voltage Four power-limited notification outputs: 2 Class Aor4Class B, or 1 Class A and 2 Class B Additional continuous auxiliary output 3 amps per output circuit 2 inputs; 2 Class B or 2 Class A Ground fault detector! indicator Independent trouble relay AC loss delay option shuts off power to non-essential high-current accessories like magnetic door holders Built-in synchronization for appliances from System Sensor', Gentex', AMSECO', and Wheelock Stand alone operation Lightweight design adds to ease of installation and reduces shipping costs Operates with most polarized, UL Listed notification devices ANSI Cadence pattern output capability built-in 5495 Technical Specifications Model 5495 Block Diagram Signal Circuit Output Signal I Signal I Input Distributed Signal 2 Signal Circuit Output Signal 2 Input Power Signal 3 (Optional) Module 5495 120 VAC Signal 4 Aux. This unit senses smoke in the most challenging conditions, operating in airflow speeds of 100 to 4,000 feet per minute, temperatures of -4°F to 158°F, and a humidity range of 0 to 95 percent (non- condensing). A plug-in sensor head offers improved false alarm immunity and simple installation, testing, and maintenance. An improved cover design isolates the sensor head from the low-flow feature for simple maintenance. The lnnovairFlex housing provides ample wiring space, a 34-inch conduit knockout, and built-in short circuit protection to prevent damage to sensitive components during installation. High contrast terminal designations make wiring easy. With its 2:1 sensor-to-power capability, the power board of the 04120 may be used to monitor a second sensor, D4S, simultaneously (i.e., supply and return side). As many as 50 InnovairFIex detectors can be interconnected. When one unit senses smoke, all interconnected detectors will switch their relays; only the detector sensing smoke will go into alarm, thus pinpointing the fire source. An easy-access Test/Reset button makes it possible to test the unit with the cover on. Three DIP switches can be used to configure field selectable settings: cover tamper delay, number of sensors to be controlled, and shut down on trouble option. Each power board has two LEDs that can be used to indicate the status of connected sensors, and a quick reference imprinted on the cover explains the LED status indications (Standby, Maintenance, Trouble, and Alarm). The lnnovairFlex duct smoke detector can be customized to meet local codes and specifications without additional wiring. The new InnovairFIex product line is compatible with all previous Innovair models, including remote test accessories. WARNING: Duct smoke detectors are NOT a substitute for open area smoke detectors; NOT a substitute for early warning detection; NOT a replacement for a building's regular fire detection system. Refer to NFPA 72 and 90A for additional information. Fire Engineering Division DN-6720:E FMM-1 (A), FMM-1 01(A), FZM.1(A) & FDM.1(A) 0 NOTI Fl ER® Monitor Modules with FlashScan® by Honeywell General Four different monitor modules are available for Notifier's intelligent control panels for a variety of applications. Monitor modules supervise a circuit of dry-contact input devices, such as conventional heat detectors and pull stations, or monitor and power a circuit of two-wire smoke detectors (FZM-1 (A)). FMM.1(A) is a standard-sized module (typically mounts to a 4" [10.16 cm] square box) that supervises either a Style D (Class A) or Style B (Class B) circuit of dry-contact input devices. FMM-101(A) is a miniature monitor module a mere 1.3" (3.302 cm) H x 2.75" (6.985 cm) W x 0.65" (1.651 cm) D that supervises a Style B (Class B) circuit of dry-contact input devices. Its compact design allows the FMM-101(A) to be mounted in a single-gang box behind the device it monitors. FZM-1(A) is a standard-sized module that monitors and supervises compatible two-wire, 24 volt, smoke detectors on a Style D (Class A) or Style B (Class B) circuit. FDM-1(A) is a standard-sized dual monitor module that mon- itors and supervises two independent two-wire Style B (Class B) dry-contact initiating device circuits (lDCs) at two separate, consecutive addresses in intelligent, two-wire systems. FlashScan® (U.S. Patent 5,539,389) is a communication protocol developed by NOTIFIER that greatly increases the speed of communication between analog intelligent devices. Intelligent devices communicate in a grouped fashion. If one of the devices within the group has new information, the panel CPU stops the group poll and concentrates on single points. The net effect is response speed greater than five times that of other communication protocols. FMM-1 (A) Monitor Module Built-in type identification automatically identifies this device as a monitor module to the control panel. Powered directly by two-wire SLC loop. No additional power required. High noise (EMFIRFI) immunity. SEMS screws with clamping plates for ease of wiring. Direct-dial entry of address: 01 - 159 on FlashScan loops; 01 —99 on CLIP loops. LED flashes green during normal operation (programma- ble option) and latches on steady red to indicate alarm. The FMM-1(A) Monitor Module is intended for use in intelli- gent, two-wire systems, where the individual address of each module is selected using the built-in rotary switches. It pro- vides either a two-wire or four-wire fault-tolerant Initiating Device Circuit (IDC) for normally-open-contact fire alarm and supervisory devices. The module has a panel-controlled LED indicator. The FMM-1(A) can be used to replace MMX-1(A) modules in existing systems. FMM.1(A) APPLICATIONS Use to monitor a zone of four-wire smoke detectors, manual fire alarm pull stations, waterfiow devices, or other normally- FMM-1(A) (Type H) open dry-contact alarm activation devices. May also be used to monitor normally-open supervisory devices with special supervisory indication at the control panel. Monitored circuit may be wired as an NFPA Style B (Class B) or Style D (Class A) Initiating Device Circuit. A 47K Ohm End-of-Line Resistor (provided) terminates the Style B circuit. No resistor is required for supervision of the Style D circuit. FMM.1(A) OPERATION Each FMM-1(A) uses one of the available module addresses on an SLC loop. It responds to regular polls from the control panel and reports its type and the status (open/normal/short) of its Initiating Device Circuit (IDC). A flashing LED indicates that the module is in communication with the control panel. The LED latches steady on alarm (subject to current limita- tions on the loop). Direct-dial entry entry of address: 01 - 159 on FlashScan loops, 01 - 99 on CLIP loops. LED flashes during normal operation; this is a program- mable option. LED latches steady to indicate alarm on command from control panel. The FZM-1(A) Interface Module is intended for use in intelli- gent, addressable systems, where the individual address of each module is selected using built-in rotary switches. This module allows intelligent panels to interface and monitor two- wire conventional smoke detectors. It transmits the status (normal, open, or alarm) of one full zone of conventional detectors back to the control panel. All two-wire detectors being monitored must be UL compatible with the module. The FZM-1(A) can be used to replace MMX-2(A) modules in existing systems. FZM-1(A) APPLICATIONS Use the FZM-1 (A) to monitor a zone of two-wire smoke detectors. The monitored circuit may be wired as an NFPA Style B (Class B) or Style D (Class A) Initiating Device Cir- cuit. A 3.9 K Ohm End-of-Line Resistor (provided) terminates the end of the Style B or D (class B or A) circuit (maximum IDC loop resistance is 25 Ohms). Install ELR across termi- nals 8 and 9 for Style D application. FZM-1(A) OPERATION Each FZM-1(A) uses one of the available module addresses on an SLC loop, It responds to regular polls from the control panel and reports its type and the status (open/normal/short) of its Initiating Device Circuit (IDC). A flashing LED indicates that the module is in communication with the control panel. The LED latches steady on alarm (subject to current limita- tions on the loop). FZM-1(A) SPECIFICATIONS Nominal operating voltage: 15 to 32 VDC. Maximum current draw: 5.1 mA (LED on). Maximum IDC wiring resistance: 25 Ohms. FDM.1 (A) Dual Monitor Module The FDM-1(A) Dual Monitor Module is intended for use in intelli- gent, two-wire systems. It provides two independent two-wire initiating device circuits (lDCs) at two separate, consecutive addresses. It is capable of monitoring normally open contact fire alarm and supervisory devices; or either normally open or nor- mally closed security devices. The module has a single panel- controlled LED. NOTE: The FDM-1(A) provides two Style B (Class B) lDC circuits ONLY. Style 0 (C/ass A) IDC circuits are NOT supported in any application. FDM-1(A) SPECIFICATIONS Normal operating voltage range: 15 to 32 VDC. Maximum current draw: 6.4 mA (LED on). Average operating current: 750 pA (LED flashing). Maximum IDC wiring resistance: 1,500 Ohms. Maximum IDC Voltage: 11 Volts. Maximum IDC Current: 240 pA EOL resistance: 47K Ohms. Temperature range: 32° to 120°F (0° to 49°C). Humidity range: 10% to 93% (non-condensing). Dimensions: 4.5" (11.43 cm) high x 4" (10.16 cm) wide x 1.25" (3.175 cm) deep. Mounts to a 4" (10.16 cm) square x 2.125" (5.398 cm) deep box. FDM-1(A) AUTOMATIC ADDRESSING The FDM-1(A) automatically assigns itself to two address- able points, starting with the original address. For example, if the FDM-1(A) is set to address "26", then it will automatically assign itself to addresses "26" and "27". NOTE: "Ones" addresses on the FDM-1(A) are 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 only. Terminals 6 and 7 use the first address, and terminals 8 and 9 use the second address. CAUTION: Avoid duplicating addresses on the system. Installation FMM-1(A), FZM-1(A), and FDM-1(A) modules mount directly to a standard 4" (10.16 cm) square, 2.125" (5.398 cm) deep, electrical box. They may also be mounted to the SMBSOO surface-mount box. Mounting hardware and installation instructions are provided with each module. All wiring must conform to applicable local codes, ordinances, and regula- tions. These modules are intended for power-limited wiring only.
