PLAN CHECK RESPONSE
Reference: 1. Geotechnical Investigation, Carlsbad Seapointe Resort Addition, Carlsbad,
Gentlemen:
California, prepared by Geocon Incorporated, dated January 27, 1997.
2. Grading and Erosion Control Plans for: Carlsbad Seapointe Resort Phase IL
prepared by O'Day Consultants, dated March 5, 1998 (signature date of engineer
ofrecord).
In accordance with the request of Mr. George O'Day, O'Day Consultants, we have reviewed the
referenced grading plans to update the referenced project soils report in response to a city plan check
comment regarding slope stability.
Section 6.4 of the soils reports states that no cut or fill slopes were planned for the project. This was
based on our understanding of the development of that time and without the benefit of grading plans.
Review of the referenced grading plans now indicates that fill slopes are planned at a maximum
inclination of 2: 1 (horizontal:vertical) with a maximum height of 5 feet. These slopes are considered
minor due to a height of less than 10 feet. Therefore, based on our experienced with the on-site soils
during grading of Phase I of the project, it is our opinion that the planned slopes will be grossly and
surficially stable.
