Welcome to the Senior Commission Meeting
We welcome your interest and involvement in the city’s legislative process. This agenda includes
information about topics coming before the Senior Commission and the action recommended by city
staff. You can read about each topic in the staff reports, which are available on the city website.

Virtual meeting format
•In the interest of public health and safety, we are temporarily taking actions to prevent and mitigate
the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by holding Senior Commission and other public meetings
online only.
•All public meetings will comply with public noticing requirements in the Brown Act and will be made
accessible electronically to all members of the public seeking to observe and address the Senior
Commission.

o The Clerk will then call on the last four numbers of your telephone number.

•In writing: Email comments to parksandrec@carlsbadca.gov Comments received by 1 p.m. the day
of the meeting will be shared with the commission prior to the meeting. When e-mailing comments,
please identify in the subject line the agenda item to which your comments relate. All comments
received will be included as part of the official record. Written comments will not be read out loud.
•These procedures shall remain in place during the period in which state or local health officials have
imposed or recommended social distancing measures.
Reasonable accommodations

ADJOURNED. ANY AGENDA ITEMS THE COMMISSION HAS NOT TAKEN ACTION ON WILL BE PLACED ON A FUTURE
AGENDA.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: June 3, 2021 Senior Commission Meeting
PRESENTATIONS:
New commissioners introduction. Commissioners, McReynolds, Ross and Venegas-Garcia.
CONSENT CALENDAR: None.
All items listed under consent calendar are considered routine and will be enacted by one motion
as listed, unless an item is requested to be removed for discussion by a commission member.
PUBLIC COMMENT: The Brown Act allows any member of the public to comment on items not
on the agenda. Please treat others with courtesy, civility, and respect. In conformance with the
Brown Act, public comment is provided so members of the public may participate in the meeting
by submitting comments as provided on the front page of this agenda. The Senior Commission
will receive comments at the beginning of the meeting. In conformance with the Brown Act, no
action can occur on these items.
DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:
1. NOMINATION OF COMMISSIONERS TO SERVE ON THE GROWTH MANAGEMENT PLAN
UPDATE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Receive report and nominate a commissioner to serve on the Growth Management
Update Advisory Committee (one commissioner to serve as a primary committee
member and one commissioner to serve as an alternate member).
2. ELECTION OF SENIOR COMMISSION OFFICERS
Commission will solicit nominations for, and elect commission officers for the 2022
calendar year.
3. SENIOR COMMISSION WORK PLAN FOR FY 2021-22
The commission will review, edit as needed, and adopt the work plan for fiscal
year 2021-22.
4. NOMINATE A MEMBER OF THE SENIOR COMMISSION FOR THE CDBG ADVISORY
COMMITTEE
The commission is requested to appoint a representative to the Community
Development Block Grant Advisory Committee.

5.DEPARTMENT REPORT
The commission will receive a report on recently completed and upcoming Senior
Center activities and programs, as well as other topics of interest by Recreation Area
Manager Margaret Hamer.
