ALL PLANT MATERIAL REPLACED SHALL BE GUARANTEED FOR THE ORIGINAL PERIOD, STARTING FROM THE DATE OF REPLACEMENT. 6.19 ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD: 6.19.1 CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTINUOUSLY MAINTAIN ALL AREAS INCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT DURING THE PROGRESS OF THE WORK, THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, AND UNTIL FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK. 6.19.2 THE ENTIRE PROJECT SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY CALENDAR DAYS, COMMENCING FROM THE TIME ALL ITEMS OF IRRIGATION AND LANDSCAPE PLANTING WORK HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AS SPECIFIED IN THE FOREGOING ARTICLES OF THESE SPECIAL PROVISIONS TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT, AND UPON THOROUGH GERMINATION OF THE HYDROSEED AREAS AS DETERMINED BY THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. 6.19.3 ESTABLISHMENT WORK INCLUDES ALL MOWING, WATERING, WEEDING, RESEEDING, MULCHING, CULTIVATING, SPRAYING, AND TRIMMING NECESSARY TO BRING THE PLANTED AREAS TO A HEAL THY GROWING CONDITION, AND ANY ADDITIONAL WORK NEEDED TO KEEP THE AREAS NEAT, EDGED, AND ATTRACTIVE. 6.19.4 WATER GRASS UNTIL ACCEPTANCE OF WORK. THE AREAS SHALL BE KEPT MOIST, BUT NOT GLISTENING WET, UNTIL TIME FOR THE FIRST CUTTING OF GRASS. AFTER FIRST CUTTING, WATER LAWN TO MAINTAIN A THRIVING CONDITION. RESEEDED AREAS THAT DO NOT SHOW PROMPT MAINTAIN THE LAWN AREAS UNTIL AN EVEN, CLOSE STAND OF GRASS HAS BEEN OBTAINED AND FOR AT LEAST THIRTY DAYS. 6.19.5 DURING THE PLANT ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, ALL PLANTS AND PLANTED AREAS SHALL BE KEPT WELL WEED-FREE AT ALL TIMES. WEEDS, DALLAS AND JOHNSON GRASS, AND BERMUDA GRASS SHALL BE REMOVED AND DISPOSED OF. PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO WATERING SLOPES PLANTED IN LAWN ON THE WINDWARD AND/OR SUNNY SIDE SO THAT LAWN WILL BE ADEQUATELY WATERED AT ALL TIMES. 6.19.6 THE LAWNS SHOULD BE EDGED WHENEVER NECESSARY. THE GRASS SHALL BE MOWED WITH SHARP AND ADJUSTED MOWERS BEFORE IT EXCEEDS 2" IN HEIGHT. THE GRASS WILL BE CUT TO NOT LESS THAN 1", AND DURING THE PERIOD OF MAINTENANCE, THE GRASS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO EXCEED 2" IN HEIGHT. 6.19.7 IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST CUTTING OF GRASS, WHEREVER A LAWN AREAS IS BOUNDED BY TREES OR SHRUBS, THE EDGE OF THE GRASS SHALL BE TRIMMED TO A NEAT AND UNIFORM LINE AT A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 'Z FROM THE TREES OR SHRUBS. WHERE MOW CURB EXISTS, TRIM TO MOW CURB. WHERE TREES OR SHRUBS OCCUR IN GRASS AREAS, THE GRASS SHALL BE TURNED UNDER AND NEATLY EDGED 18' AWAY FROM THE PLANTS. THE LAWN EDGES SHALL BE MAINTAINED A NEAT CONDITION UNTIL ACCEPTANCE OF THE WORK. 6.19.8 WORKMEN SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK ON GRASS AREAS UNNECESSARILY BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER SEEDING OPERATIONS. GRASS AREAS THAT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED OR COMPACTED SHALL BE RECULTIVATED AND RESEEDED AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. 6.19.9 ANY DAY THE CONTRACTOR FAILS TO ADEQUATELY WATER, REPLACE UNSUITABLE PLANTS, WEEDS, AND OTHER WORK DETERMINED TO BE NECESSARY BY THE OWNER, WILL NOT BE CREDITED AS PART OF THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD. 6.19.10 DURING THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, ANY PLANT INDICATING WEAKNESS OR PROBABILITY OF DYING, SHALL BE REPLACED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. 6.19.11 ALL BASINS AROUND SHRUBS AND TREES SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT A FOUR INCH DEPTH THROUGHOUT ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED BY THE OWNER OR HIS REPRESENTATIVE. 6.19.12 TREE STAKES WHICH FOR ANY REASON ARE DAMAGED OR RENDERED INADEQUATE FOR SUPPORT SHALL BE REPAIRED AND RESTORED TO THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION. 6.19.13 CONSTANT DILIGENCE SHALL BE MAINTAINED TO DETECT THE PRESENCE OF DISEASE, INSECTS, AND/OR RODENT INFESTATIONS AND PROPER PREVENTATIVE OR CONTROL MEASURES TAKEN. 6.19.14 ALL SHRUBS AND TREES SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN THEIR NATURAL SHAPES. TALL OR SCRAGGLY BRANCHES SHALL BE TINNED OUT WHERE NECESSARY. IN NO CASE SHALL TREES OR SHRUBS BE TRIMMED BY HEADING OR SHEARING. ANY PLANTS SEVERELY PRUNED IN THIS MANNER SHALL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. 6.19.15 ON THE 45TH DAY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, ALL LAWN AREAS SHALL RECEIVE TOP DRESSING OF 6 POUNDS OF 1~ COMMERCIAL FERTILIZER PER 1,000 SQ. FT. 6.19.16 ON THE 80TH DAY OF THE ESTABLISHMENT PERIOD, ALL LAWN AND GROUND COVER AREAS SHALL RECEIVE TOP DRESSING OF 6 POUNDS OF 1~ COMMERCIAL FERTILIZER PER 1,000 SQ.
