ALERT and ACTION levels are completely adjustable in the field to suit the cleanliness and stability of the environment.
ALARM levels are field adjustable to one of 3 levels within the UL permitted range. ACTION levels latch and may be
used to perform control functions. ALERT levels self-restore and may be used to activate a local sounder base before
general ALARM evacuation.
FIELD PROGRAMMING -3 WAYS
1. AUTO-PROGRAM
The AFP-200 identifies all devices that are connected·,
determines the type of device, and loads default values
(general alarm) into non-volatile memory. This is com-
pleted in less than 30 seconds.
2. ON-LINE EDIT
While still providing fire protection, the AFP-200 program
may be completely edited from the front keypad. Menu
trees permit easy change of any parameter without refer-
ral to the programming manual. Recall, increment and edit
function speeds entry of alphanumeric labels. New pro-
gram check routine catches common errors.
3. OFF-LINE PC
The complete AFP-200 program may be created in
an off-line PC compatible computer, then loaded
into the AFP-200 EIA-232 port. The program may
also be off-loaded to a PC at any time. High speed
data transfer completes upload or download in less
than 1 minute. The PC program may also be used
to access remote AFP-200 systems over dial-up
phone lines, providing detail status information and
history file search/sort.

GENERAL
The NOTIFIER FCPS-24 (120 VAC model) and FCPS-24E
(220/240 VAC model) are compact, cost-effective, 6-amp
remote power supplies with built-in battery charger. The
FCPS-24(E) may be connected to any 12-or 24-volt Fire
Alarm Control Panel (FACP) or may stand alone. Primary
applications include Notification Appliance (bell) Circuit
(NAC) expansion (to support ADA requirements) or auxil-
iary power to support 24-volt system accessories. The
FCPS provides regulated and filtered 24 VDC power to four
Notification Appliance Circuits (two Class A [Style Z] and
two Class B [Style Y] or four Class B only). Alternately, the
four outputs may be configured as any combination of re-
settable/non-resettable power outputs (optimal for power-
ing 4-wire smoke detectors). The FCPS-24(E) also con-
tains a battery charger capable of charging up to 7.0 Amp
Hour batteries.
FEATURES
• Requires input trigger voltage of 9.0 -32 voe.
• Contains two, fully-isolated input/control circuits (trig-
gered from FACP Notification Appliance Circuit [NAC
expander mode] or jumpered permanently on [stand-
alone mode]).
• Two Class A (Style Z) or Class 8 (Style Y) Notification
Appliance Circuits (circuits 1 & 3).
• Two additional NACs that may be individually configured
for Class B (Style Y) operation only (circuits 2 & 4).
• 6 Amp full load output (3 amps max./ckt.) in NAC ex-
pander mode (UL 864 ).
• 4 Amp continuous output in stand-alone mode (UL 1481 ).
• In stand-alone mode, output power circuits may be con-
figured as resettable (reset line from FACP required) or
non-resettable.
• Fully regulated and filtered power output (optimal for
powering four-wire smoke detectors, annunciators and
other system peripherals requiring regulated/filtered
power).
• Fuseless, power-limited technology meets new UL power-
limiting requirements, effective May 1, 1995.
• Normally closed trouble contact.
• Fully supervised power supply, battery and Notification
Appliance Circuits.
• Selectable earth fault detection.
• AC trouble report selectable for immediate, 8-or 16-hour
delay.
• Optional ammeter/voltmeter.
• Works with virtually any UL 864 fire alarm control which
utilizes an industry-standard reverse-polarity notification
circuit.

Resettable outputs are created by connecting the resettable output from the FACP to one or both of the FCPS inputs.
Non-resettable outputs are created simply by cutting on board resistors. For addressable panel applications, use
a monitor module to sense the trouble status of the FCPS via the trouble relay contacts.
Example 3.0: Use addressable control modules to activate the FCPS versus the FACP Notification
Appliance Circuits. This typically allows for mounting the FCPS at greater distances away
from the FACP while expanding system architecture in various applications.

Each CMX-2 uses one of 99 possible module addresses
on a SLC loop. It responds to regular polls from the ad-
dresses on a control panel and reports its type and status,
including the open/normal/short status of its Notification
Appliance Circuit (NAC). The LED blinks with each poll
received. On command, the CMX-2 activates its internal
relay. The CMX-2 supervises Style "Y" (Class 8), or Style
"Z" (Class A), Notification or control circuits.
Upon code command from the panel, the CMX-2 will dis-
connect the supervision and connect the external power
supply in the proper polarity across the load device. The
disconnection of the supervision provides a positive indi-
cation to the panel that the control relay actually turned
ON. The external power supply is always relay isolated
from the communication loop so that a trouble condition on
the external power supply will never interfere with the rest
of the system.
Relay control with Form C contacts is obtained by break-
ing off J1/J2 tab.
Rotary switches set a unique address for each module.
The address may be set before or after mounting. The
built-in TYPE CODE (not settable) will identify the module
to the control panel, so as to differentiate between a mod-
ule and a sensor address.
A built-in magnetic test switch is provided to simulate a
short circuit on the NAC to test the CMX-2.

The CPX-551 plug-in series of smoke detectors are de-
signed to commercial standards and offer an attractive
appearance.
INSTALLATION
The CPX-551 Plug-In Detectors use a separate base to
simplify installation, service and maintenance. A spe-
cially designed tool allows maintenance personnel to plug-
in and remove the sensors without using a ladder.
Mount base (all base types) on box which is at least 1.5
inches deep. Suitable boxes include:
• 4" square box
• 3-1 /2" or 4" octagonal box.
• Single-gang box.
• Use a 4" square ( 1.5" deep) box when using the CPX with
the 8501 BH sounder base.
• Use a 3-1/2" or 4" octagonal or 4" square base for the
8524RB or 852481 base.
NOTE: Because of the inherent supervision provided by
the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required. Wir-
ing "T-taps" or branches are permitted for Style 4 (Class
"B'? wiring.
OPERATION
Each CPX-551 uses one of 99 possible addresses on a
System 5000 (w/AIM-200 module), AFP-200, AFP-400,
AM2020 Advanced Multiplex System, and AFP1010 SLC
loop. It responds to regular polls from the system and
reports its type and status, including the analog level of its
unipolar chamber. If it receives a test command from the
panel (or a local magnet test) it simulates its chamber and
reports the analog level. It blinks its LEDs when polled,
and turns the LEDs on steady when commanded (LED
blink is optional on the AFP-200, AFP-400, AFP1010 and
AM2020).
The CPX-551 Intelligent Ionization Sensor's unique unipo-
lar chamber responds quickly and uniformly to a broad
range of smoke conditions and can withstand wind gusts
up to 1,500 feet-per-minute without sending an alarm
level signal. Because of the unipolar chamber, the CPX-
551 is approximately two times more responsive than
most ionization sensors. This makes it a more stable
detector.

GENERAL
The DHX-502 Series Duct Housing is designed to sample
air currents passing through a duct and allows the early
detection of developing fire. The DHX-502 Duct Housing
will accommodate either the ePX-551 Intelligent Ionization
Sensor or the SDX-551 Intelligent Photoelectric Sensor,
either of which provides continuous analog monitoring of
the unit's sensitivity. When sufficient smoke is sensed, an
alarm signal is initiated at the AM2020 control panel,
AFP1010 control panel, AFP-200 control panel or AIM-200
module (supports the SDX-551 detector head only) moni-
toring the detector, and appropriate action can be taken to
shut off fans and blowers, change over air handling sys-
tems, etc. This can prevent the rapid distribution or isola-
tion of toxic smoke and fire gases throughout the areas
served by the duct system.
The DHX-502 duct detector system features the superior
capabilities of an intelligent sensor in a unit that is easy to
install and maintain, making this duct detector the new in-
dustry standard.

from the panel.
" Simple change-out of detector heads: twist-in, twist-out.
• Easy and quick mounting to round or rectangular ducts.
• Outputs for remote test station (separate 24 VDC is re-
quired).
" Air velocity rating from 500 to 4,000 feet per minute.
• UL 268A listed.
.. Clear polycarbonate cover for convenient visual inspec-
tion of sampling tube filters.
• Rugged Noryl® housing (mounting portion).
• Three-year limited warranty.
• Optional remote LED (RA400Z).

APPLICATIONS
Photoelectric detectors are often faster than ionization de-
tectors in sensing smoke from slow, smoldering fires. Ion-
ization detectors are often better than photoelectric detec-
tors at sensing fast, flaming fires.
CONSTRUCTION
These detectors are constructed of LEXAN® in an off-white
color. The SDX-551 plug-in series of smoke detectors is
designed to commercial standards and offers an attractive
appearance.
LEXAN® is a registered trademark of GE Plastics, a subsidiary of
General Electric Company.
INSTALLATION
The SOX Series Plug-In Detectors use a separate base to
simplify installation, service and maintenance. A specially
designed tool allows maintenance personnel to plug-in and
remove the sensors without using a ladder.
Mount base (all base types) on a box which is at least 1.5
inches deep. Suitable boxes include:
• 4" (101.6 mm) square box with, or without, plaster ring.
• 3-1/2" (88.9 mm) or 4" (101.6 mm) octagonal box.
• Single-gang box.
• For the 8524RB or 852481 base: use a 3-1/2" (88.9 mm)
or 4" (101.6 mm) octagonal box; or 4" (101.6 mm) square
box.
• When using the SOX with the 8501 BH sounder base:
use a 4" square box (1.5" [38.1 mm] deep).
NOTE: Because of the inherent supervision provided by
the SLC loop, end-of-line resistors are not required. Wir-
ing "T-taps" or branches are permitted for Style 4 (Class
"B'') circuits.
OPERATION
Each SDX-551/SDX-551TH uses one of 99 possible ad-
dresses on a SLC loop. It responds to regular polls from
the control panel and reports its type and status, including
the analog level of its smoke-sensing chamber. If it re-
ceives a TEST command from the panel ( or a local magnet
test), it stimulates its chamber electronics and reports an
alarm analog level. It blinks its LEDs when polled, and
turns the LEDs on when commanded by the panel.
The SOX detector uses the light-scattering principle, rep-
resenting the latest in smoke-sensing technology.

GENERAL
The NOTIFIER model NBG-10 is a non-coded, dual action,
manual alarm station.
FEATURES
• Within ADA 5 lb. pull force when used without break-tube
(models manufactured after 10-1-96, identified by an ®
under station spring).
• Highly visible (red color with white lettering).
• Easily operated.
• Attractive shape and textured finish.
• Semi-flush mounting on a standard single-gang electrical
box.
• Operates with or without a break tube.
• Handle latches in down position to clearly indicate that
the station has been operated.
• Optional lock with key.
• Optional N.O. contact for auxiliary functions.
• Optional pre-signal circuit may be used for pre-signal or
Institutional Applications.
• Spanish (FUEGO) version.
• Meets UL 38, Standard for Manually Activated Signaling
Boxes.
APPLICATIONS
Use to provide a convenient means to manually initiate a fire
alarm.
CONSTRUCTION
Shell, door, and handle are molded of red colored LEXAN®
(or polycarbonate equivalent) with a textured finish and
white lettering.
Back plate made of 16 gauge steel.
• Switch contacts are normally open.
INSTALLATION
For semi-flush mounting, attach directly to a standard single-
gang electrical box. Terminal block with screws allows quick
installation.
OPERATION
Pulling the handle down causes it to latch in the down posi-
tion and to close the normally-open switch. The handle is
restored manually by unscrewing the alien-head screw so
the top of the case can pivot forward, allowing the spring-
loaded handle to return to its normal position. The case can
then be pivoted back to its normal position and secured with
the alien-head screw.
The NBG-1 0L utilizes a mechanical key instead of the alien-
head screw.
The NBG-10 PIT has a normally-open auxiliary switch which
is closed by rotating a key clockwise (the key is non-remov-
able in this position).

GENERAL
System Sensor SpectrAlert Series strobes, horns, and combina-
tion horn/strobes are UL listed for primary signaling in life safety
systems and meet ADA public mode visible signaling requirements.
SpectrAlert products can be connected to the alarm indicating
circuit of a fire alarm control panel and are compatible with DC
line supervision. The SpectrAlert product line mounts to standard
backboxes using a universal mounting plate included with each
unit. An optional small footprint mounting plate fits to a single-
gang box. An accessory backbox skirt gives a cosmetic finish to
a 4" x 4" x 1-1/2" or a 2" x 4" x 1-7/8" surface-mounted backbox.
All strobe and horn/strobe mounting options require only one
screw attachment of product to plate.
These products are designed for 12 and 24 VDC and full-wave
rectified unfiltered power. Full-wave rectified operation requires
more current than DC operation. For detailed current draw infor-
mation, consult the Current Draw Tables (page 2). The horn/strobe
combination products are factory-assembled with jumper wires
for in-tandem operation. For independent wiring of horn and
strobe, remove jumper wires. When wired for independent op-
eration, the strobe will continue to run while the horn can be si-
lenced. However, the strobe must be running for horn to oper-
ate.
Horns -The SpectrAlert Series horns and horn/strobes pro-
vide two different field-selectable/reversible tones, a high-low
field-selectable/reversible sound output setting (low setting on
24-volt models only) and a field-selectable/reversible temp 3 pat-
tern or non-temporal continuous pattern. These field-selectable
features are accomplished using pins and jumpers located on the
back of each SpectrAlert horn and horn/strobe. An accessory
module is not needed to make these field selections. The horn on
horn/strobe models will operate on a coded power supply. The
horn-only model, however, will not operate on a coded power
supply. In such instances, substitute a System Sensor model
MA12/24D.
Strobes -The ADA-compliant SpectrAlert strobes are elec-
tronic visible warning signals that flash at 1 Hz over their operat-
ing voltage range. These products are available in 24-volt models
at 15, 15/75, 75 and 110 candela intensities and in 12-volt models
at 15 and 15/75 candela intensities. SpectrAlert products feature
dramatic reductions in current requirements.
Sync•Circuit Module-The Sync•Circuit Module is avail-
able for the synchronization of strobes and horns and can syn-
chronize two Style Y (class 8) circuits or one Style Z (class A)
circuit. The module can also generate a synchronized temp 3
tone for System Sensor's Multi-Alert™ and PA400 horn products.*
The synchronization module allows the SpectrAlert horns on
combination horn/strobes to be silenced on 2-wire systems.
SpectrAlert's Sync•Circuit Module can be daisy-chained for mul-
tiple zone synchronization. The Module shall not operate on a
coded power supply. (Sync•Circuit Module available July, 1997.)
*For Multi-Alert and PA400: Strobes must be wired to a continu-
ous source of power (non-coded power supply).

GENERAL
Wheelock's MT Multitone Horn and Horn/Strobe Series
offers a choice of eight (8) nationally and internationally
recognized electronic alerting sounds: Horn, Bell, March
Time Horn, Code-3 Tone, Code-3 Horn, Slow Whoop, Si-
ren or Hi/Lo Tone. Our Code-3 horn and tone patterns are
engineered to comply with NFPA/ANSI Temporal Pattern
specifications without requiring additional coding means.
With MT Horns and MT Horn/Strobe Signals, one alarm
appliance meets most of your signaling needs. Synchro-
nized strobe versions are available.
The MT Strobes are designed for ADA applications with
maximum performance, reliability and cost-effectiveness
while meeting or exceeding the latest requirements of NFPA
72 (the National Fire Alarm Code), ANSI 117.1 (the Ameri-
can National Standard of Accessible and Usable Buildings
and Facilities) and UL Standard 1971 (Standard for Sig-
naling Devices for the Hearing Impaired). MT strobes, when
properly specified and installed in accordance with NFPA/
ANSI Standards, can provide the Equivalent Facilitation
allowed under ADA Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG Gen-
eral Section 2.2) by meeting or exceeding the illumination
which results from the ADA specified strobe intensity of 75
candela at 50 feet (15.24 m). This is an illumination of
0.030 lumens per square foot (footcandles).
Each MT Horn and MT Horn/Strobe appliance has two user-
selective sound output levels: STANDARD dBA and HIGH
dBA. Non-strobe versions provide selectable voltage ca-
pability in one unit, 12 voe or 24 voe, filtered or FWR.
Strobe versions are specific for either 12 VDC or 24 VDC
and may be used with filtered or unfiltered (full-wave-recti-
fied) input voltages. Separate input terminals are avail-
able; shunt wires are provided to enable both tone and
~trobe to operate simultaneously from a single input, or
independently.

operation. If the module fails to operate (i.e., contacts remain closed), the strobes shall revert to a non-synchronized default
flash rate.
The Sync Module shall be designed and available in two versions: the SM 12/24 for control of a Class B circuit; and a dual output
version, the DSM-12/24 for control of either Class A or multiple Class A or B circuits. The DSM dual circuit version shall provide
the additional capability of "daisy-chaining," i.e., the ability to interconnect multiple DSM's for synchronous horn and strobe
operation on multiple circuits. Interconnection capability shall be for a maximum of 40 circuits. Rated average current require-
ment for the SM 12/24 shall be 0.014/0.025 amperes; the DSM 12/24 shall be 0.020/0.038 amperes. A single circuit SM Sync
Module shall be capable of handling a 3 ampere load @ 12 or 24 VDC; dual circuit DSM Sync Modules shall be capable of
handling a load of 3 amperes per circuit @ 12 or 24 VDC.
All UL 1971 listed strobe appliances shall be verified to meet FCC Part 15, Class B and incorporate low temperature compen-
sation to ensure the lowest possible current consumption. Strobe activation shall be via independent input or from the same
input circuit as the audible.
The combination audible/visual appliances may be installed indoors and surface or flush mounted. They shall mount to standard
electrical hardware requiring no additional trimplate or adapter. The aesthetic appearance shall not have any mounting holes
or screw heads visible when the installation is completed. The appliance shall be finished in a textured red color.
The audible device may be installed indoors or outdoors with the proper backbox.
