In response to an inquiry from Council Member Acosta, Deputy City Manager Community Services
Barberio explained that mitigation efforts studies are currently taking place on the proposed location
at the Brookfield site.
In a respon se to an inquiry from Council Member Bhat-Patel, SDG&E Public Affairs Manager
Gabaldon explained that the team with SDG&E is dedicated to moving along with negotiations as
urgently as possible.
In response to an inquiry from Council Member Bhat-Patel, Deputy City Manager Community
Services Barberio explained that if all parties agree on The Shoppes at Carlsbad site, the city is ready
to move forward with the agreement.
In a response to an inquiry from Mayor Hall, SDG&E Senior Real Estate Manager Adam Smith
explained that the main reason Lot 11 is not a preferred site is because of environmental and fiscal
sensitivities.
In a response to an inquiry from Mayor Hall, SDG&E Public Affairs Manager Gabaldon explained that
he would have to have a discussion with the internal team at SDG&E before reconsidering Lot 11 as
a site option.
In response to an inquiry from Council Member Norby, SDG&E Public Affairs Manager Gabaldon
explained that he is not aware of any additional concerns with The Shoppes at Carlsbad site aside
from concerns currently being studied.
Council Member Bhat-Patel requested SDG&E Public Affairs Manager Gabaldon have the initial cost
associated with Lot 11 at the next meeting.
The City Council received the report.
Minute motion by Council Member Bhat-Patel, seconded by Council Member Acosta directing staff
to return with an update of the negotiations on July 26, 2022, and include alternative site location
options. Motion carried unanimously, 5/0.

CITY ATTORNEY COMMENTS: City Attorney Brewer thanked all parties involved in the negotiations
process.
