PRIVATE ENGINEER'S NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
The existence and location of any underground utility pipes or structures
shown on this plan are obtained by a search of available records. To the
best of our knowledge there are no existing utllltles except as shown on
these plans. The contractor is required to take due precautionary
measures to protect the utilities shown and any other lines or structures
not shown on these plans.
All contractors and subcontractons performing work shown on or related
to these plans shall conduct their operations so that all employees are
provided a safe place to work and the public is protected. All contractors
and subcontractors shall comply with the "Occupational Safety and
Health Regulation" of the U.S. Department of Labor, and with the State of
California Department of Industrial Relations' "Construction Safety Order-!."
The civil engineer shall not be responsible in any way for the contractors'
and subcontractors' compliance with the "Occupatlonal Safety and Health
Regulations" of the U.S. Department of Labor or with the State of
California Department of Industrial Relations' "Construction Safety Orders.·•
Contractor further agrees that he shall assume s0te and complete re-
sponsibility for job site conditions during the course ot construction of
this proJect, including safety of all persons and property; that this requlre..--
ment shall apply continuously and not be llmitecl to normal working hours;
and that the contractor shall defend, indemnify and hold the owner and
the engineer harmless from any and alt liability, real or alleged. in connec-
tion with the performance of work on this project, excepting for liability
arising from the sole negligence of the owner or the engineer.

Import material ,hall be obtained from, and waste material shall be
deposited at, a legal site.
A precanstruction conference shall be held at the site prior to beginning of
work and shall be attended by all representatives responsible for
construction, inspection, supervision, testing, and all other aspects of the
work.
llrl.l$h shall be removed only within the area to be graded. No trees are to
be removed.
All areas shall be graded to drain. Ponding of water is not permitted.
Where an existing abandoned pipe line is not removed by the grading ·
operation, it shall be removed within 20 feet of building or street areas and
replaced with properly compacted soils. In other areas the pipe should be
completely plugged with concrete or removed.
The contractor iS required to take precautionary measures to protect the :,
utility lines shown and any other Jines not of record or not shown on these i
plans. Any pavement or other existing surface improvements damaged by
the contractor shall be replaced as required by the City of Carlsbad
Engineering Department.

All areas to be filled shall be prepared to be filled, and all fills shall b<! ·
placed in accordance with the "Carlsbad Stn.ndard Specifications."

Contractor· shall provide erosion controJ measures to control soil movement
satisfactory to_ the City Engineer in the e:vent the site is exposed to erosion
during the period from November I to April 1,. Erosion control measures
shall include, but are not limited to: slope protection stilling basins
sandbags, and 5torm drains. ' '
All sfte preparations and earthwork shall be in accordance with the
requirements of th~ _soils engineer -Robert Prater Associates, Job No.
245°5A dated April JO, 1980, and any supplemental reports.
All Swales and ditches shall have minimum I percent· slope.
All cut and fill slopes shall be trimmed to a finish grade to produce a smooth
and uniform surface or cross section. The site sha11 be left in a neat and,
orderly conditjon. All stones, roots or other debris shall be removed and
disposed of at a legal site.
The contractor shall be responsible for any debris or damage occurring along'
the h~ul routes. or adjacent streets u a direct result of the grading
operation. ·
"5 soorl as grading is completed, slopes shown shall be stabilized by
hydroseeding, mulchint and fertilization. The seed mix .shall be desi,:,ned by
an expert in the fi~ld and shall be approved by the Parks and Rec~ea tion
Department Director, The mulch shall be applied at not Jess than 2,000
pounds per a7re and. t~~ fertilizer at not less than 1,000 pounds per acre1
