Additionally, the open sides of stairs shall be provided with 42" high guards, per Section 1015.3. b) The handgrip portion of all handrails shall be not less than 1-¼" nor more than 2 inches in cross-sectional dimension. If the handrail is not circular, it shall have a perimeter dimension of at least 4" and not greater than 6-¼" with a maximum cross-section dimension of 2-¼ inches. Section 1014.3.1. c) Handrails projecting from walls shall have at least 1 ½ inches between the wall and the handrail. Walls separating dwelling units in the same building shall be fire partitions as required by Sections 708 and 711. Sections 420.2 and 420.3. a) Such fire partition shall have a fire-resistance rating of not less than 1-hour b) Such fire partitions shall extend to the underside of the floor/roof sheathing above. 25. Show how penetrations of assemblies for piping, electrical devices, recessed cabinets, bathtubs, soffits or heating, ventilating or exhaust ducts shall be sealed, lined or insulated or treated to maintain the required sound ratings. 26. The Title Sheet or Site Plan should clearly indicate if any portion of the project is in a noise critical area (CNEL contours of 60 dB) as shown on the City or County's General Plan. If no portion of the project is within a noise critical area, provide a City of Carlsbad PC2020-0049 12/9/2020 note on the Title Sheet stating: "This project is not within a noise critical area (CNEL contour of 60 dB) as shown on the General Plan". 27. If the project is located in noise critical areas (CNEL contours of 60 dB) as shown on the City or County's General Plan, then an acoustical analysis showing that the proposed building has been designed to limit noise in habitable rooms to CNEL of forty-five dB is required. Where windows must be closed to comply, it is necessary to provide mechanical ventilation in accordance with the mechanical code. Provide design. 28. Bathrooms (defined as having a shower or tub), shall be provided with mechanical ventilation (an openable window is not allowed). Energy Standards 150(0). 29.
